“My God,” Elder Maximus exclaimed as he too transformed. “They are big and that means they should be about…”
“Five hundred to one thousand years,” Alan whispered, the fight already leaving his body. He alone can’t even kill one of those creatures with his alpha powers then talk about his wolves that are just naturally strong without any additional power.
“Alpha, what must we do?” Aton asked, “none of us can kill them and they are about twenty of them.”
Why would the Nebuzars team up with the rogues to attack them? Alan wondered as he stared from the big Nebuzars to the biggest ones. He sighed and shook his head, they have already lost the fight right before they began. He exhaled and closed his eyes making his decision.  “Who do you want?” he asked the rogue.
‘Dad, what are you doing?’ Aliyah asked in the mind link.
‘Alpha, we can’t give them what they want. She is one of us.’ Sean said.
‘Alpha, we mustn’t give up without a fight.’
‘Alpha we are stronger than you think. We can do this.’
Alan sighed at the voices in his head and shook his head. They don’t understand, an alpha always protects and he would rather sacrifice one to save all than to lose all.
“Tell them all to change back, we will identify her when we see her human body,” the rogue answered.
Alan sighed and turned to his wolves, “go ahead.”
‘But alpha…’
‘Dad, we shouldn’t do this.’
‘Alpha, we can take them. We killed them all on the blood moon night, we would do so again.’
‘Yes Alpha, we can do it.’
“No you can’t!” Alan yelled, “now, change back!”
“No need,” Aliyah said as she transformed. “I’m the one they want.”
“What? No, Aliyah, enough of that nonsense…” Alan was saying when he was interrupted by the rogue.
“She is right, she is the one we want.”
“Like hell,” Alan yelled and he felt bad immediately. He was willing to sacrifice the life of another’s child but when he found out it was his, he couldn’t do it again. An alpha always protects and he knew he should be protecting all instead of protecting one. But she is his only child, his one and only.
“You don’t have a choice,” the rogue said. “Let us leave with her.”
“Over my dead body,” Alan yelled, growling and tiny brown furs appeared on his face.
“But Alpha, they have the Nebuzars,” Elder Maximus said. “An alpha always protects, you can’t risk the lives of our warriors over one.”
“That is my child, Maximus.”
“So is everyone here. Their parents might not be here but we all know that they would like them to come home to them. Their mates are waiting for them to come back to them. You are the alpha, I don’t need to tell you your duties,” Maximus said.
“Alpha,” Aton sighed, not knowing what to say. Even he would be unwilling to give up his son so he understood Alan’s predicament.
Sean snuffed and walked out. He glanced at his alpha and his father before he raised his snout to the moon and howled. His howl was responded to by all the other wolves and he charged to the rogues.
“Sean, no!” Aton yelled but the other wolves joined Sean in the attack. The rogues weren’t much of a deal and he watched as the elder wolves charged at the Nebuzars while the younger ones took the rogues. He glanced at Alan and sighed before jumping and shifting midair, joining in the fight.
“How insolent,” Maximus yelled and Alan glanced at him.
“They made their choice, Maximus, you should do the same,” he said and shape shifted, joining in the fact and killing three rogues within a matter of second as he charged at a Nebuzar, he knew he cannot defeat it but he found himself pleading for divine intervention, whatever it would be. Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw as the rogues fell and his men as well but the good thing was that they were more of rogues than his warriors.
Aliyah watched the fight, the ground was turning red and she knew they would have been wining the fight if it were just the rogues. She glanced at those hideous creatures, remembering how Edward was the one that killed the other one back then in the demon woods. She sighed, no matter what, he can’t come here, not with everyone here. What’s to say they won’t turn and attack him just as Sean and Steven had done that day?
Heaving another sigh, she howled and transformed, joining in the fight. She killed as many rogues as she could since they weren’t given her time to really fight them as they all want to grab her, knowing her wolf form now. The fear was growing deep in her heart that they would all die here but she was more afraid that Edward might sense her fear and then come. She was afraid of what her pack mates would do to him and what would become of them when they know of their bond. She was surprised that she was more worried about him and how her kind would react to his presence than she would willingly jump into using his powers and save her people. Guess no matter what form he takes or what he is, a mate will always be a mate.
A kick on the head flung her away and she tumbled a few times on the ground before lying still, shifting back into her human form. The rogue that kicked her howled, bringing a close Nebuzar’s attention to her. The Nebuzar shrieked and then bent over to pick her up. Sean saw that and ran towards them, biting the Nebuzar on the hand and the animal growled and slashed him with its long claws.
‘Everyone, prevent that Nebuzar from taking Aliyah,’ Alan yelled but was slapped away by a Nebuzar. He got up and shook his giant head before looking at the Nebuzar and roaring. He rushed after it but he received another blow from the creature, throwing him two feet away from it. He laid on the ground to gather his strength back. They have managed to kill all the other rogues, leaving them with their alpha and the Nebuzars.
Alan finally got up and he glanced around, there was blood everywhere and even though he was able to survive the Nebuzar’s attacks, a lot of his wolves were not and he felt his eyes water as he watched the massacre. This was really an unfair fight. The Nebuzar attacked him again whilst he was not looking and he groaned in pain, hearing his bones break as he hit a tree. He knew the only reason he hasn’t been forced to change back was because his healing powers were faster than most because of his Alpha powers.
He heard an angry roar and lifted his head painfully and saw a slim white wolf running towards the Nebuzar. His heart cut in his throat immediately as he screamed in the mind link, ‘No, Scarlet!’ but she had already jumped on the Nebuzar’s back and was biting it ferociously. The animal growled in pain and grabbed her, flinging her away from it and Alan thought he had died when he watched her slam into a tree with force.
He forced himself to get up and go to her but then he saw Aliyah, surrounded by dead bodies which he knew where their pack mates. The Nebuzar bent over and picked her up. ‘No!’ Alan yelled but he couldn’t even stand well and his mate was lying still far from him in her human form. He didn’t know which one to go for, his daughter or his mate and then he saw the Nebuzar, coming over to finish what it started.
Right when he was about giving up hope, thinking this was the end of the Blue Moon pack, he saw a big cloud of smoke appear out of nowhere in the sky. He recognized the creature immediately but at this moment, he didn’t care about it but he was also wondering what it came to do.
The smoke swarmed down and right before it hit the ground, it turned into a man. Alan was shocked, he knew the smoke had a voice but he didn’t think it could take a human form. He watched as the man rushed the Nebuzar that was carrying Aliyah in lightening speed and with one blow, the Nebuzar was sent flying and the man effortlessly caught Aliyah in midair then slowly squatted while cradling her head. He couldn’t believe his eyes, even he couldn’t land such a blow on the Nebuzar and the man did it so easily.
He watched as he caressed his daughter’s face and he was shocked at what was happening. The man looked up then and that was when he saw his red eyes. He seethed at the Nebuzar and it was then that he saw his fangs. A nightwalker, it was a nightwalker all along?
Aliyah moaned softly and opened her eyes. They were first hazy but widened in shock when she saw the man holding her. “Edward,” she whispered. She didn’t know if she imagined it or if he really sighed in relief but he did place her gently on the ground, his red eyes going to the Nebuzar that was preparing to charge at him.
“Stay here,” he whispered in her ear before he stood up and turned to the Nebuzar. He flashed his teeth at him angrily before leaping in the air, his claws elongating as he stabbed them into the Nebuzar’s forehead. “She is mine!” he growled as he yanked his hand away along with the head of the Nebuzar. He landed on his feet just as the body dropped behind him, his eyes burning red and his claws so long and bloody when he detached the Nebuzars head.
