Chp 18

Dropping low, hands on the floor Izuku sweeps a leg out trying to trip the other, while at the same time dodging the overhead swing to his head.

The other stabs his spear in the ground and flips over him in an incredible show of acrobatics, accurately swinging his spear once again at his head without even taking a break in between or looking back at him, forcing Izuku to once again twist and dodge in painful and uncomfortable ways to not earn a concussion.

Or worse have his head fly off his body from the air pressure and it's way to sharp currents, paling slightly when some of his hair is cut off and falls to the ground outside of the arena, the wind having blown the lost pieces of him back and far away.

Izuku knows that's unlikely, UA wouldn't let someone die on live television and hopefully not at all, though given the severe lack of care or safety that Izuku has seen he isn't certain of that, but unfortunate accidents do happen.

Dodging to the side Izuku quickly gets back to his feet so he isn't like a pig waiting to be slaughtered and then dives back into the thick of the fight, looking for any opening he can get to use his quirk on the other since if he can use it he can win.

He'd come away with broken finger bones yes but that's a very small price to pay in order to keep being human.

Izuku is lucky, he manages to land a few hits on the other, and he manages to weave between the others swift, powerful thrusts, and power through the wind that keeps cutting into his skin and trying to push him back.

He's about to activate OFA when he looks up and freezes in both shock and fear.

His opponents, Shinso's eyes... they're absolutely blood thirsty, their drilling into Izuku with a primitive, a primal... desperation, with fear a-and hate and some kind of manic mania, like Shinso is some kind of caged up cornered beast.

It's like he isn't seeing Izuku right now, it-it's like he's seeing something else, something terrible and horrifying that he is forced to fight in order to not die.

He's looking at him like Izuku's prey and he's...

He's the predator, desperate and hungry and Izuku...

Izuku is screwed.

"Zawa, need stop fight" is all they bother saying, tugging at the man's sleeves and frowning a little from their comfortable seat on their hero's lap, earning a confused rumble, of questioning but they don't say more since if they bother looking it is clear to see that their Shinso is not okay.

They wonder why, since they do not understand why their favoured is suddenly enriched in a desperate killing intent, like their host is something scary that needs to be killed.

Their host is many, many things but scary? Hardly unless humans count just how much they like pain and getting hurt by others scary.

Not that they can understand human fears, since they aren't human they can't understand why spiders, corpses and many others things they are scared of to be of note or concern.

As far as they know, they are only scared of one thing and that is the black the pure nothing so no, they do not understand Shinso's sudden mood change of fight or flight, and given their training they know Shinso won't choose flight.

No... actually they might be scared of one or two other things, watching their favoured get hurt, or worse, die even if they know they can heal them and... having their favoured be upset with them.

They do not know if they fear those two though, but it is certainly painful, more painful than anything else they know of and it brings many of the not nice feelings that they despise to fill them up and suffocate them.

Despite not needing to, they really don't like feeling unable to breathe.

It's painful and it hurts in the not good way and it hurts, hurts, hurts and no, no, no just NO.

They are broken from spiralling painful not good, not good thoughts by an increase of noise from both inside the room and the outside.

Taking a look, they take note that their host has won even if he is now stabbed through the gut by their favourites spear, despite the icky gunk they had him put on the blade, not that it would be affective, given the stuff doesn't work on alien metals and alloys not native to earth.

Though Shinso... Shinso is clutching his head, gripping his hair hard enough to rip off his scalp and breathing too quickly, too uneven to be normal, a panic attack maybe? They think so but it is different, it is like Shinso is not present which is weird, cause Shinso is present, they can see them.

They strangely find relief when the woman with the sleeping quirk uses it on him, and he is taken away on a stretcher, weird as that is, because normally they don't like others doing things their favoured don't agree with or want.

Checking both Shinso's and their hosts shadows to check there wounds they note none are life threatening so after healing the bruises of Shinso they...hesitate, about healing their host, not sure if they should but... they end up doing so anyway.

They are not sure why, but they feel.... Responsible... they think on Shinso's sudden uncharacteristic behaviour because usually Shinso would never hurt others, no matter how much they have hurt him.

They do not know why they feel responsible, only that they do and they hate it cause they once again don't understand, don't think they ever will either and... and...

Turning their head they bury their face in their hero's chest, tears once again falling and not knowing why like always.

Always, always, always not understanding, not knowing and no, no, no they hate, hate, hate, hate just hate it hurts why does it hurt no, no please stop no more they don't like don't like no, no, no-

"Shh, kid It's alright your friends going to be fine, it was clearly just an accident, I won't let your friend get in trouble alright, they'll have to go through me if they try so stop your crying" a voice cuts through their strangely rushed thoughts and looking up they stare into their hero's concerned black eyes and unable to stop it, more tears fall as they whimper in distress, not even wondering why they can suddenly hear words again they speak without even meaning too.

"Shinso no fine, Shinso hurt, Shinso's emotions... painful, very, very painful it hurts, hurts lots and lots... in here..." they say, pointing to their chest, not noticing the increasingly worried looks he and the loud one share other their head.

"don't know why, never know why, hurts Shinso, hurts we and never ever know why, why why! Why hurt? Why pain? Why... why can't we understand...?" They whisper out, not even sure they are even speaking as their tears continue to fall to pour like rain in a deserted street.

That's how they feel, deserted and alone even knowing they are never alone because shadows are one but many though still the thought lingers, like the black it leaves nothing else, only the aching, painful thoughts of alone, unwanted, abandoned and the ever present why, why, why.

Pain courses through them, hurts them and makes them bleed in invisible rivets down their skin, the pain eventually gets to be to much that even Aizawa's warmth no longer helps so they scramble out of his arms, despite the man's struggles to keep them there.

"C-can Shinso... still... be hero... even with emotions like these...?" They ask, their voice cracking and for some reason coming out desperately but they don't stick around to hear an answer.

They don't think they want one so they leave in a swirl of shadows back to their place, back to their cats because they can't stand to stay.

Just can't.
