Chp 4
Tomura doesn't have irl friends, never needed or wanted them, most npcs just don't catch his attention. Sure he's got kurogiri but he's more his guardian, not a friend.
At least that was true until a few years ago when a new playable character showed up and started healing whoever came his way.
He hadn't cared at first, figuring this priest was just another irritating npc like everyone else. Up until he lost a life by some jackass thinking he was some kind of boss level figure.
He dusted his ass later, proving the jackass wrong, proving who the real boss was but when he got injured he hadn't brought his phone, having stormed off from the bar in anger at something or other.
Thought he'd die out in that alley way... thought he'd die disappointing sensei... until the priest showed up out of the blue.
Till that point he hadn't realised the priest everyone was going on about was a snot nosed brat, couldn't be more then what? Six or something at the time.
Kid hadn't said anything, just looked at him blankly, though he didn't know how he could tell but while the kid had the facial expressions of a literal ice block his eyes... they spoke a million words and shigaraki could see the curiosity, the confusion in his eyes but more importantly he could see a fire, a soul deep desire to help.
Which had confused the shit out of him, no one outside of sensei and maybe kurogiri had ever wanted to help him.
So he'd let the priest touch him, wrap him up in his surprisingly warm shadows and less then a minute later he was fully healed and the priests eyes suddenly lost their fire and he walked off as silently as he arrived.
Shigaraki also walked off his own way, heading off to dust the fucker who got the drop on him not thinking of meeting the priest npc again.
It was only the first of many accidental meetings though, after the fifth time shigaraki found himself seeking the kid out, curious about the little priest that was becoming more and more popular with the underground with each passing day.
The priest never talked no matter who spoke to him but tomura found himself talking to him anyway, though half the time the kid was lost in his own thoughts but he surprisingly didn't mind the kids apathy and lack of mental presence.
Tomura didn't know when he started thinking of the priest a part of his party, didn't know when he started calling him his player two until kurogiri pointed out that he made a friend.
He'd been confused and rightfully scoffed at that since he didn't think what they had was a friendship in any sense of the word but he took it in stride and didn't deny kurogiri as if agreeing that the priest was his friend.
He showed up at his priests healing spots more often after he realised that his player two was his friend, though he thought it was completely one sided given the kids complete lack of mental presence and total apathy, until of course while in a meeting deal some stupid npcs tried to kill him only for all the attacks to be swallowed up by shadows.
They weren't kurogiri's, kid was nowhere near him but he'd protected him.
That was when he realised despite his priests complete lack of mental presence and awareness he considered him, Tomura shigaraki one of his own.
An equal party member and that the one sided friendship wasn't so one sided as he thought.
He had his first irl friend.
Tomura may deny it but he was ecstatic for months afterwards, always grinning when shadows suddenly popped up out of nowhere silently protecting him from stupid npcs.
The only thing that would have made him even more pleased was if sensei would let him invite his little priest over to heal him after his battle with that bastard hero all might because his player two can heal anything except death.
Unfortunately sensei didn't agree, said that he didn't need to be healed just yet, but thankfully he agreed that he would let his little priest heal him one day.
Another thing that would make him happier would be if his player two wasn't so neutral but he knows he can't force the kid to do anything he doesn't want to, so he doesn't mind.
His little priest is destined, is happy being the one who heals all, made more obvious because it's the only times he shows a smile, though tomura is positive his priest doesn't realise he does it.
Tomura refuses to be the one who removes that smile and he'd kill anyone who tried to hurt and take away his only friends happiness, possibly his priests only real happiness given tomura hasn't seen such a soft, happy and genuine smile on his face any other time.
He's done it before, dusted npcs who so much as said a bad word or looked at his player two wrong.
His priest is the nicest, kindest guy alive even if his priest would most likely disagree with that but he's the only person he wouldn't dust if his player two ever decided to become a damn hero.
As psychotically protective as he is of his only friend, his priest has never actually sought him out, only ever protecting tomuras back with his shadows and it's always Tomura seeking his priest out when he wants to hang out.
So as happy as he is to see his player two suddenly shadow warp into the bar he can't help but raise an eyebrow in curiosity since no one here is injured.
"Hey little priest, what are you doing here" he asks rhetorically, not expecting an answer.
Like expected the kid says nothing, just tilts his head like a curious kitten that he will never admit he finds completely adorable on his player two before his priest looks around the bar curiously.
Tomura waits, saying nothing more until his player two stops looking around and back at him, normally he wouldn't wait and just keep talking or play one of his games but for once his priests eyes aren't clouded over, completely or otherwise and is fully focused, full of rare clarity as he stares at him.
Then he hands him a notebook and tomura can't help the thrill he feels because his player two is actually communicating! Tomura is probably the only one his player two has communicated with and he can't help the smug pride that suddenly swells up and threatens to burst out at that.
He's not the only one who is happy, it may not be obvious to anyone else but he's been with kurogiri for years, he can tell his guardian is down right as ecstatic as he is if not a touch more.
He snorts at the fact, kurogiri acts like some kind of mother with his priest, treats his player two as if he's his baby or something, heck he'd bet kurogiri would be cuddling him if he didn't think it would throw priest into a confused mess.
Not that priest isn't confused all of the time anyway, especially in social interaction, tomura is certain his stats are minus zero in that category.
Gingerly holding the notebook like it's a precious treasure he slowly takes in the words on the pages.
He blinks in shocked curiosity at the content within, raising a brow as he thinks about his player twos request.
He doesn't think long, tomura isn't going to turn down his player twos first request of him. Neither is he going to ask what his priests connection is to this future hero brat and his priest knowing erasure isn't much of a surprise.
Even if he is jealous that his player two isn't only favouring him.
"Sure kid, I won't dust them, no promises on injury though"
Tomura is surprised that his player two shrugs, actually responding to his words but he lights up anyway.
Perhaps his priest is finally increasing his social stats.
