The Demon Inside

Prologue

I took a deep breath before I jumped off the building. I heard him screaming my name, and my friends. She just laughed, telling me my doom is near. I stopped fighting as I fell to the ground, my eyes were closing, I felt peace for the first time in forever. It felt like an endless drop, and I loved the thrill it gave me in my body. I could hear his voice clearly through everything, his smooth, calm voice that rings in my heart.

"Ayla!!"

I tried to hold in my tears as I thought about him and the life I took. I put everyone in danger, my friends and him, the one who holds the key to my heart. I accepted the task to come to Earth for Lucifer, running for freedom. When I was really just running from safety. I take blame for everything that has happened to us, I never should've let us even come in the first place. I looked down at the ground to see I was getting close, I was only 20 feet away. Jumping off was possibly the stupidest thing I have ever done.

"Ayla no!!"

I choked out a cry when I heard the new voice. It was my best friend Luna, I knew her eyes were welling in tears, seeing me fall like this. Austin would be there for her, that I am certain. She has been my best friend since we were born, she has lived near me her whole life. She knows everything about me and I don't even have to tell her. I know she will be okay, and that she will protect everyone. I had to do this, because I knew that I wouldn't die. I had to get my father and uncles attention, and this was the only way possible. I looked down at the ground, trying not to panic. I know they will come, they have to.

Hurry up.

10 feet.

Suddenly, the ground look like it seemed to be moving farther away. I could feel the last bit of my fear vanish, because I knew they were here. They answered my call. I saw from the corner of my eyes, Lucifer appearing on the ground looking angry, this wasn't part of his plan at all. My dad was standing next to him, staring up at me with wide-eyes. I guess I would be too if I saw my daughter falling from a building to her death. Although, he looked like he was smiling now. His eyes were bright, and he looked more alive then I ever saw him.

Suddenly, I felt a cold hand on me, and my body stiffened at the sudden physical impact. I didn't know who it was, it couldn't be her. She can't fly. When I heard a voice, I knew instantly. All my memories came flooding back to me so hard I gasped. Her voice was still as silk and smooth as it was the last day I saw her, before she left.

"I got you darlin'. I got you."
