Chapter 10

" So where do we look first?"

Luna and I have been walking for almost a hour looking for Matt in the streets of California. I was starting to give up and go home.

"How should I know? This place is so crowded a giant could hide here and we would never find him," I said annoyed.

"Maybe we should have done more research then walking on this godforsaken ground. I swear these heels are killing me!" She was whining like a brat in 3 inch heels on dirt.

"Not my fault," I laughed.

We walked a while more to look and again saw nothing, but we did see one person that definitely caught my eye. Luna saw him first.

"Hey Jake!" She screamed making me punch her hard. "Ow! Damn Ayla!"

I glared at her," Why did you do that?!" I whispered harshly. She just shrugged and waved him over.

He came over with a big smile that could make the world stop, and give me chills all over. His gold eyes smiled at me making me want to swoon.

"Hey guys, what's up?" Luna took the bait.

"Hey! Just looking for an old friend of ours maybe you know him?" She smiled innocently.

What's his name?" He said calmly.

Luna spoke softly this time as smooth as honey,"Matt."

As soon as she spoke I felt wind brushing on my hair and her eyes turning bright blue with a spark of fire. Soon I was smacked out of his mind as fast as I went in. I tried to cover any expression and just breathed heavily. Luna on the other hand was calm with a smile ready.

Why do they want him?

"No I don't sorry guys." He said quickly and left to walk the way Luna and I came. I was confused on what just happened. Did I just go into his mind?

"Shocker that he lied, but now we know where to look," She took out her phone," I'll tell Austin and Lily when I get back since my class I'm suppose to be in isn't going on today."

"Luna, does your gift mean you go into their mind?"

She stared at me confused, I rarely ask about her Gift. "Yeah why?"

"What did he say?"

She looked at me closer, "Why do they want him?"

I shivered as I thought hard about what I just witnessed. I was pulled in with Luna's Gift.

"Are you okay Ayla?"

"We need to set up a meeting."

" Does this dress look good?" asked Mya.

I asked Mya if she wanted to come with me and Autumn and she was delighted.

She was wearing a long green dress, simple, and wonderful for her figure and making her feel like the center of attention.

"Yes Mya it's very good." I smiled softly feeling jealous she looked so perfect in almost anything she wore. I felt distracted from what happened earlier and Jake lying to us. What connection did he have with Matt?

"Thanks Ayla, I always have your back." She said it like she meant it, and we both know she did. I hugged her softly before she left to get changed.

"Autumn you coming out?" She hasn't come out in over 3 minutes.

"I don't know if it's good.."

"Come out so I can see?" I asked nicely wondering what she even picked.
