Ronnie's POV

It was the middle of the school day, and during 3rd period everyone was called down to the auditorium for an assembly.

"Hello hello," Mr. Helios said as we all got seated. "Hope all of your days are going great."

"I wonder what this could be about," I said.

"I hope it's something about the field trip," Declan said. "We leave in 2 days."

"There's not much for us to know more about," Keandre said.

"Settle down everyone." Mr. Helios said and we all stopped talking. "Now as you know today is the last day before our field trip in Alola. However, there is something I'd like for all of you to know about in the near future."

Mr. Helios then pulled out a paper and began reading off it.

"In November, our very own city will be hosting its annual games." He announced. "The SandSap City games are a long-held tradition by the city."

"Games?" I said.

"You're new to Riotro," Lauren said. "People from all across the region come to watch and participate in the games. And at the end, there's a tournament."

"Really?" I said. "Sounds exciting! I can't wait!"

"In these games, you and another person will participate in a series of games along with 63 other duos." He explained. "Once it comes down to the top 14, the remaining duos will participate in a tournament."

Wait, duos? I have to partner up with somebody? Who the hell would I do that with?

I have plenty of options, ideally, I'd like to pair up with Lauren since she's the closest to me.

"Since the school is funding this year's games, it allows our students to take priority in signing up! Registration would start in the middle of October and end a week later." He said. "Then they'll allow others to sign up. So you have limited time."

A man walked down the aisles handing each of the rows a stack of papers.

Everyone took one and passed it down.

After that the assembly ended and we were let out of school early, for some reason.

But hey, I'm not complaining.

Now I have time to see if I can partner up with somebody. So I asked around with my friends to see who'd like to.

I started by asking Lauren. She'd be the most likely to say yes for sure.

I looked around the building and luckily I found her in the student commons, catching up on homework.

"Sup Lauren." I sat down next to her.

"Ah!" Lauren flinched. "You scared me half to death. Anyways what's up?"

"You know about those games that they talked about this morning?" I said.

"Yeah, what about it." She answered.
