Ronnie's POV

It was the night before the field trip, and I was bottled up with excitement.

There are many Pokemon, and strong trainers I can meet.

On top of that, I'd get opportunities to battle my friends. I hope I get to battle Lauren or Dontre again.

Hell maybe even battle Declan for the first time. I just can't wait.

Me, Lauren, Dontre, Keandre, Declan, Jen, and Sariah all decided to hang out in the dorm lobby the night before.

It was Lauren's idea to come up with a schedule since we all have things we'd want to do.

"I think since Monday is the first day we should just spend the whole day going out, on the beach, and shopping," Lauren suggested.

"As long as I'm not paying," I said under my breath.

"What was that?" Lauren said.

"I said I completely agree," I "repeated."

"I guess I'm cool with that, not gonna have the energy to do anything more complicated than that," Declan said.

"Do you ever have the energy to do anything besides eating?" I joked.

"Do you ever have the energy to crack a smile?" Declan said back.

"Anyways," Dontre said. "Is that what we're agreeing on?"

"Sure."

"Yeah."

"I guess so."

"No problems with me."

"Now the rest of the week is gonna be tricky," I said. "What does everyone want to do?"

"I wanna go see my grandpa, it's been a while since I've seen him," Declan said.

"You said he used to be an island kahuna right?" Dontre asked. "If so it'll be a perfect time to try and challenge the current one!"

"I wanted to challenge him too," Keandre added. "What about you Ronnie?"

"I wanted to take on the normal trial," I said. "It'll be a huge power boost for Zangoose and I if we can beat it."

"It's tough," Declan said. "My grandpa got me to do it when I visited 2 years ago and I got thrashed."

"I think I can handle it," I said back. "How'd you get that Z-crystal anyways?"

"A gift from my older brother," Declan said.

"You have an older brother? Does he go here? How old is he?" I asked.

"He died from an extreme illness last year," Declan looked down. "His name was Flynn. He was strong. But while he was doing the island challenge he got diagnosed and it only went down from there."

"Oh. I'm sorry I didn't mean-" I started.

"No, it's fine. I was gonna tell you guys eventually." Declan looked back up and smiled. "Anyways how about we get back to planning the trip?"

"Yeah let's do that," I said.

"Ok so, how about we watch Ronnie do his trial Tuesday, then the next day or two we can watch Dontre and Keandre fight the kahuna." Sariah suggested. "That gives us 3 or 4 days to do whatever."

"I'm okay with that," Declan said. "On Wednesday we can see my Grandpa too."

"Perfect, sounds like a plan." Lauren smiled.
