Life hits harder when you realize that you are going to die in a cemetery. I opened my eyes at the hit of sun rays and squinted my eyes to get a clear vision of the world I live in. I had blood all over to the left side of my face.
The pain in my head is pricking me. I swear, I don't have any energy left out to fight. Even if someone offers me to get into a coffin, I am way more than ready. Worst out of all is my hands were tied behind and now even they started to get numb.
I ran my eyes across and it looked like I was not alone. I had Gautham on the right. It would have been a surprise had it been just me. I fucking lost Karthik again and that is infuriating me!
I expected Gautham to come along and fall in the trap right when our calls got disconnected. My bad! I expected him to be smart and bring people with him but he also wanted to be the avenger who saves the world alone.
I started to recollect how it ended and there it goes! The memory of betrayal hits me that made me want to kill Aditya at the instance. The pain of getting betrayed hurt me more than any other injuries on my head. Everything was fake! All along!
Once I am out of this you are dead, Aditya.
Somehow, I managed to untie the knot. Not to brag but I took training for these kinds of things. Being a criminal lawyer, I require this.
"Anu…" I heard and turned to the side in the direction of the sound.
"Gautham? Thank God, you woke up," I was relieved. I rose to untie Gautham but tripped over in the half way.
Hearing the leaves rustle from the left, I turned around swiftly to see who it was. Taking four long steps, I grabbed him by his collar. "You little piece of shit. WHY DID YOU DO THIS?" I screamed my lungs out.
He looked at me with teary puppy eyes and that shit ain't gonna work anymore. Taking out the pistol, "You know what? Motherfuckers like you don't even deserve to live," I said, loading the gun and pointing it right at his forehead.
"Just kill me!" he sobbed.
I scoffed. "Huh! Look at you putting up a show even at this moment," I said in disbelief. "I can't believe how stupid I was – everything was fake right? Those kisses, the nights we spent together… everything is a lie, right?" I cried my heart out.
"Where is Karthik?" I asked.
"I don't know,"
"I don't mind killing you, Aditya".
When I was threatening him, someone from the right punched me. The punch was really hard and had enough force to knock me down.
I turned around and saw Roshini and her brother standing by Aditya's side.
"I was dying to beat you," her brother, Shravan said. "And I was dying to meet you!" Roshini exclaimed. She approached me slowly and ran her thumb over my bleeding lips. "These lips are the only ones that are in existence after kissing my man," she said.
Lord! She really is psycho!
Taking a quick look at Aditya, "Well, I don't think they are gonna exist for too long," I predicted my future.
She laughed out loud and that laugh was creepier than the entire ambience we were in. It is still a wonder as to how this guy managed to live with her for 3 years. There are only two possibilities. Either he is ignoring her and trying to lead a peaceful life or he is also a psycho like her.
After everything he has done to me, I strongly believe that he is also a psycho. Give it up for the most psychotic couple out there.
"Where's Karthik?" I asked.
"You sure Karthik is the only one you should be worrying about?" She asked.
Thinking about what she said for a while, "Vikram?" I spoke.
"Whoa! you are intelligent – then how come you are taking this long to solve this case? Unable to let him go?... Want to fuck him?"
This bitch… I kept thoughts to myself.
"Let me tell a few truths about this guy. He was the one who hit you with a rod yesterday night and hit you with the truck a couple of months ago. In fact, he knew that Karthik was alive all along yet kissed you and slept with you as if it meant nothing to him. How stupid of you to love this man?!" she said.
"I understand you as another girl. Such a fine man he is!" She appreciated her husband. "But hold it in. He is already married and – "
"What do you want?" I asked, tightening my wrists and fighting the urge to hit her.
"You are straight forward". After a short pause, she asked, "When is the next case hearing?"
"Tomorrow I guess," I answered.
"It has to be the last," she splashed freezing water on someone who is living in Alaska. "I don't know how you are going to do it but prove he is not guilty without stating that I am alive".
"You know it's not possible, right?"
"Well, I didn't study law". She further said, "In return, you can have Karthik and your son".
"I am in!" I said the very next second.
With an evil smirk on, "Don't you dare to mess it up!" she said. Looking around, "You see, I love this place. Every time I kill someone, they are buried here. So… make sure you don't have to come here again. After all, I don't want to kill the lawyer who is saving my husband," she said. I wanted that to be the last dialogue. So, I didn't respond.
It is really weird of her to contrast her own wishes. Initially, she was the one who trapped Aditya and made Shravan to file a case against Aditya. And now, she is the same woman wanting her husband to come out of it. At the end of the day, I became an idiot between their fights.
I walked towards Gautham and untied him.
I didn't think I would make it out alive. Though I am aware that it isn't over, I am glad that I am alive. Gautham offered to drive as I was badly injured.
"What's the plan?" Gautham asked when it has not even been one minute since we came out and since I started breathing.
"For now, take me to the nearest hospital," I said, closing my eyes.
One wrong move! One fucking wrong move and it all came down crashing! I don't blame anyone else but my own self. Stupid me was in love to that point where I couldn't even distinguish what is real and what isn't.
