Arc 2: Night Raven College

Chapter 8: Birthday

The Royal Sword Academy's inaugural ceremony will take place on September 1st. Ashray would begin his studies at the RSA as a first-year student. He can't help but feel nervous and excited all at once. Ashray was curious as to which dorm he would be assigned to once he arrived at the Royal Sword Academy.

Students at RSA, like those at Night Raven College, were segregated into different dorms.

"What exactly are you thinking?"

He was jolted out of his thoughts when he heard Mr. Andersen's loud voice.

Ashray Whitley blinked and answered the inquiry, looking at the familiar youthful baby face and pair of blue eyes that continually judge everyone.

"I'm thinking about the Royal Sword Academy and how I'd do there."

Mr. Andersen glanced at him before touching his right shoulder as Ashray seated on the sofa. The author then told him:

"I heard from you that the Royal Sword Academy is a school for goody-two-shoes and idealistic, naive boys, and I'm sure you'd do well there."

When he heard Mr. Andersen, Ashray stopped bristling. A thought entered his mind as he sighed.

' Even compliments from him turned into insults on his tongue. '

Mr. Andersen is truly a wonder.

And it was truly surprising that Mr. Andersen had persuaded the headmaster of Night Raven College, Dire Crowley, to gift him with a magical mirror just a few days ago. The Night Raven College's magical mirrors were employed for transportation or teleportation.

At first, Ashray doesn't know the reason behind the magic mirror request of Mr. Andersen. But eventually, they learned the reason behind it.

The Magic Mirror is currently residing at the ruined castle. And it made sense.

After placing the magic mirror on the ruined castle, Mr. Andersen informed Dire Crowley of the situation behind the curse that has haunted their village for 8 years and the fallen kingdom from a long time ago. Not to mention the last relics of the lost kingdom: the shattered castle above the freezing mountains and the sealed body of the permafrost kingdom's last monarch.

Aside from that, Mr. Andersen informed them after returning from the freezing mountains that he had passed the interview and that he would be staying at Night Raven College. He would, however, stay for a few days until Ashray's 16th birthday.

Much to their amazement and disbelief, he revealed that Arktis will be enrolled as a student at Night Raven College.

A spirit enrolling as a student at Night Raven College?

It sounded ludicrous, and it sounds like something you'd only hear in a story. Even in a twisted wonderland, no one would ever hear such a weird story.

But if it was Mr. Andersen who doesn't let anything upset and faze him, he was the only one capable of presenting such a thing to Night Raven College's headmaster.

Ashray remembered Mr. Andersen and Prince Arktis's talk from a few days ago.

"I did not suggest the idea to the headmaster on a whim. Night Raven College is an arcane academy, and this little ice prince lacks control over his magic. It would be beneficial for you and us to reign your magic and learn more control. Even in your spirit form, you can do magic. Yes? I saw how you summoned your horse familiars. If that wasn't a tell on your ability to do magic even in your spirit form, then I wonder what is."

"Isn't it absurd for me to go to school when I don't even have my body, which is currently trapped back at the castle?"

"So what if you don't have a body? Who says a ghost or spirit can't study? It's also for your good that you go to Night Raven College and study. It's an arcane academy whose purpose is to teach its students how to hone and practice their magic."

"What do you think the other students would think?"

"Heh, Ice Prince, you're such a hypocrite."

" Huh? "

"Didn't you notice? Despite your hesitant tone, you've already considered yourself a Night Raven College student."

"?!! "

"Don't look so panicked and worried. It's a good thing. Going to the academy would be beneficial for us and you would learn to control your magic. Bringing the headmaster to me in the castle a few days ago wasn't a mistake; I never expected to gain fruitful and useful information from him. Did you hear the term Overblot?"

Ashray was deep in meditation when he felt a sharp flick on his brow. Mr. Andersen was staring him down.

"You're spacing out again. That behavior of yours suddenly reminded me of a certain person. Someone so naive, but that naivety was erased long ago with the experiences he gained on his journey."

"Someone?"

"An important person."

Who is this important person? If Mr. Andersen considers that individual to be important. Someone likely to be wealthy or to hold a high position or prestige in society.

Mr. Andersen reacted with a sarcastic smile to Ashray:

"You don't need to know, but since today is your 16th birthday, I'd like to have a drink, a pint of beer! Go out and get one for me!"

With a sigh, Ashray agreed to Mr. Andersen's proposal. Mr. Andersen's daring and nastiness are simply limitless. Who would dare to order someone around on their special day?

Ashray gets up and walks out of his residence, leaving his chair behind. Miss Lily is berating Mr. Andersen, and Kay is sighing in disappointment at Mr. Andersen's actions.

When he left his house to buy a drink for Mr. Andersen, it entered his thought that Katerina would be left alone in the house since Mr. Andersen would be a lecturer at Night Raven College, and allegedly, Arktis would go there as a student, and he Ashray would attend RSA.

He hoped that Katerina wouldn't be lonely when they left because she had Miss Lily and the other people in town.

Ashray eventually returned from the shop, carrying the bottle of beer with him. Mr. Andersen was left alone by the heroic spirit after he had given him the drink, but not before he had given him a surprise gift.

Mr. Andersen returned to the Night Raven College on Sage's Island after his birthday.
