Mistakes go bye-bye later
Ari:
I opened the door and went face to face with Daniel.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"I was, uh, checking to see how your talk with Nick went," he replied quickly.
"Oh," I said. There was silence for a few seconds.
"So, how'd it go?" he asked.
"Oh, great," I lied, "it went great. He uh, explained. A lot. And, uh, yeah. It great."
"That's good," he said slowly. I bit me lip.
"Yeah," I said, "it is."
"I'm gonna...go now," Daniel said.
"I was gonna go too," I said, "I just, yeah. I'm gonna go too." He left and went to his room. I quietly closed my door and leaned against the back of it. Talk about awkward. I slid down and sat on the crowd. What am I going to do? What can I do? Ugh! I stood up and quickly got dressed. If anyone has answers it's dad. I quickly told my mom I was going to see dad. I stood outside the car, my stomach churning. I've been in the car many times after the accident. But this time I was going alone. I looked up when I saw Alex's dad pull up. He rolled down the window.
"hey sweets," he said, "Where you heading?"
"I-I-I was going to the hospital," I said.
"Great," he said, "I was actually going to tell you that he wanted to talk to you, but looks like your going there anyway." I forced a smile.
"Thanks anyway," I said, "bye!" I went in the car and started the engine. I slowly backed out and started on my way. I stopped at the stop light that was right next to the Walgreens. Cars passed. The light turned green and went on. All my senses were completely alert. If Alex saw how slow I was going she'd make a huge joke about how I'm just learning to drive. I rolled my eyes just thinking of it. My thoughts were smashed when someone honked at me. I literally jumped and honked back.
"Idiot," I mumbled. I made it to the hospital shortly and went in. I quickly went in the elevator and went to the room.
"Ari," my dad said, "I was hoping you'd come."
"Hi," I said. There was a long silence, "Nick left I blurted."
"Yes," my dad said as if he already knew, "I know."
"Wait, what?" I said, "how do you know? He left this morning."
"I know he was going to leave because he told me," my dad said, "now before you get all worked up, sit down and I'll explain." Well, it's too late for that. But I did. I sat down on the edge of the seat.
"Alright," I said, "Explain."
"I really didn't get most of it," my dad admitted, "But he said something about a one eyed man chasing him around and some crazy lady." Oh.
"He said that he didn't want to lead the man to us, so he had to leave," my father continued, "He wanted me to know so you wouldn't think he just got up and left with no reason." I sat there silent.
"I," I started, "I. I tried to call him. But he didn't answer."
"I'm sorry," he said. I was not going to cry. I'm sick of crying. I will stand strong, and I will not cry. Ever. I swallowed my sobs and straightened.
"When do you get out?" I asked changing the subject.
"They need to give me a shot in about twenty minutes and one at five forty-five," my dad explained, "So I can get out at like six." I nodded.
