Alex:
"I'll have the breakfast burrito," I ordered. We were at The Groovy Smoothy. Our parents liked the name, so they wanted to eat here, little did the know it was the place the place Nick worked at. And Nick was our server. Ari acted like she'd never seen him in her whole entire life, seriously that girl could be an actress.
"And for you, miss?" Nick played along.
"Oh," Ari said, "I don't know I think I'll have the-"
"Blueberry pancakes, hold the blueberries, add chocolate chips with a mango smoothie?" Nick said. Ari's jaw dropped.
"Yeah," she said, "how did you know?" Nick shrugged.
"Magical," he said leaving.
"Who was that?" Ari's mother said nudging.
"I don't know," Ari said with a shrug, "It's kind of creepy he knew what I wanted."
"I found it creepy that he knew you wanted the chocolate chip pancakes, but you always order them like that," I said, "Like seriously, know one orders like that Ari."
"Wait," Ari's dad said, "Was that the Nick?"
"Daddy!" Ari said pouting, "No, I don't know any Nicks."
"He's the one that you said you wouldn't talk about," he said, "You still didn't tell me what he did."
"He didn't do anything, dad," Ari said.
"Then I'll just ask him," her dad said smugly. He raised his hand, trying to get his attention, but Ari quickly pulled it down.
"Fine," Ari said, "he was really annoying, and I didn't want to be friends with him, so I lied, saying that I was and evil mermaid and now he thinks I'm weird and it just got really complicated from there."
"Ari!" Mrs. Chance said, "how many time do I have to tell you to stop telling people your an evil mermaid?"
"I'm sorry mom." Ari said. Ari's dad rolled his eyes.
"Come on Ari," he said, "He's kinda cute, I think you guys would be great together."
"Wait, what?" I said, "Mr. Chance, you hate it when Ari thinks about boys, now this?" His eyes widened at what he just said.
"Uh," he said.
"Busted," I said.
"Can, just not talk about boys right now," Ari mumbled. We all gasped. Ari. Does not want to talk about...Boys? This is a first.
"Are you okay?" I asked eyes wide.
"I'm fine!" Ari said, "Why wouldn't I be fine? I'm great. Grand. Wonderful."
"Guys, we're leaving," her mother said, "Ari and I need mother daughter time. Something is wrong." She grabbed Ari's hand and pulled her outside.
"So," I said, "How are you daddy and other daddy?"Ari:
"Mother!" I said, "what are you doing?"
"Tell me what's wrong," she said.
"Nothing, you dragged me out here in the first place," I said.
"Do you, like this Nick?" My mother asked. Like. Seriously. Me. Like. Nick. No. Well. Maybe. But NO!
"No!" I said, "Why would you say that?"
"Then who do you like?" She asked.
"No one, mother, I like no one," I said folding my arms.
"I don't believe this," my mom said, "I'm going to get to the bottom of it." She pinched my cheeks.
"Mom," I said annoyed, "I'm not two, you should believe me when I say that I don't have a crush right now."
"Alright, whatever," she said, "but remember, you can tell me anything."
"No, not anything," I said, "I can tell Alex anything because you know, I can't tell you about all the outrageous things I've done without getting in trouble, now can I?" She rolled her eyes.
"Come on." We went to finish breakfast. I ignored Nick until we left.Alex:
"Wait what?" I said, "You're joking, right? Duh, you have to be."
"No," my dad said.
"But dad," I said.
"You, we, why?" Ari sputtered, "That's unfair! That was like four months ago! Why can't just drop it, and, we finally made friends that are actually friends and." Her eyes welled with tears, "Daddy," she said, "I thought we were all having fun and..."
"That does not change the past," he said.
"But it should," Ari said, "We've learned so much here. And at first we didn't like it, but now we do, why can'y we stay!" Ari's mom sighed along with mine.
"A punishment," Ari's mother started.
"Yeah," Ari said, "A punishment is usually unpleasant, I know that. But what did you expect? Us to stay inside all day and not do anything? Not make friends? Not have fun?"
"Of course not," her father said.
"Well it sure sounds like it!" Ari said, "The moment, we finally have lives, you go and ruin it! It's like...it's like an evil gryphon! When the fairies are having fun and dancing about, he swoops up and eats the lead singer!" The tears overflowed and she stomped out of the room. I stand up and glare at them.
"Great," I said, "Look what you did? Ari's talking fairies and gryphons again." I stomped out after Ari.
"Ari!" I called in the large house, "Come on, we can go get ice cream? Or cotton candy?"
"Gryphons like cotton candy," I heard a muffled voice.
"Are you hiding under the bed again?" I asked bounding up the stairs. I went to our room.
"Ari," I said, "Please tell me you aren't under the bed. You now how impossible it is to get you out."
"I'm not planning on getting out," Ari said, "I'd rather die here than go back home."
"Nonsense," I said, "Come on." I grabbed her arm and pulled her out. Or, tried to.
"I told you you'd get stuck," I said pulling harder, she finally go out. She flopped on the bed.
"Alex, I don't want to go back," she said, "We need to see Maroon5. And, and, then Edward and Ivory." She started hyperventilating.
"Ari, deep breaths," I said, "it's going to be fine. There's no way we're going back. This is home now.""Wait," Mike said, "you're leaving?" His shoulders slumped. I took a deep breath and shrugged.
"They just, you, know," I said.
"But you can't," he said, "What about Maroon5?" I shrugged again, not really able to say anything.
"I donno," I mumbled, "But we aren't leaving for three days, we can still, have fun?"
"Of course we can," Mike said. "I can still annoy you to death over video chat right?"
"Sure, Mikey," I said, "Whatever. But, I think you should see Ari. She hasn't eaten and she's doing weird things and, ugh, just come on." I took his hand and lead him upstairs to where Ari was laying on the bed, crying with headphones on and singing...Off key.
"What about, what about angels, angles. They will come, they will come make us, special," she sang.
"Now comes the part," I said wincing.
"Don't give, me up," she sang, too high, "Don't give me, up."
"Wow," Mike said.
"Wait, there's more," I said holding up a finger.
"HOW UNFIAR IT'S JUST OUR LOVE!" She sang more passionately, "FOUND SOMETHING REAL BUT OUT OF-"
"Okay," Mike, "Um, Ari, you need to stop."
"DON'T GIVE ME UP!" Ari sang louder, "BUT WHAT ANGELS, ANGELS, ANGELS, ANGELS." She started saying angels over and over again.
"I don't want to go home!" She said, "I don't want to go."
"ARI!" Mike shook her.
"I'm fine," she said, "I'm fine."
"Alright," Mike said, "FnId a happy song and sing on key." Ari frowned.
"but it's easier to sing off key," she wailed, "AND IF YOU SEARCHED THE WHOLE WILD WORLD! WOULD YOU DAR-E-ARE to let it GOOOOOOO! BUT WHAT ABOUT, WHAT ABOUT, ANGELS? A-A-ANGLES? THEY WILL COME, THEY WILL COME MAKE US, SPE-E-ECAIL! DON'T GI-I-IVE.........ME UP!!!!!!!"
"She's been singing it over and over again," I said, "I knew we should have never watched The Fault in Our Stars yesterday, I just knew it!"**********************
