𝑪𝑯𝑹𝑰𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑨𝑵𝑨 𝑾𝑨𝑺 still in a "sour-ass mood"—her words, not anyone else's. What had happened earlier in the day gnawed at her. She couldn't believe she had let a liar get into her head and her pants. It wasn't even about the lie anymore—it was about her own stupid decisions. How could she let herself get played like that?

Truth be told, there was more to it than just being lied to. A lot more. The real culprit was jealousy. She hadn't known how to handle seeing one of her friends flirt with someone she liked, so, naturally, she took it out on Brian. He didn't deserve it, but in the moment, it felt right. At least that's what she told herself.

But as much as she fumed, Christiana had promised herself that tonight wasn't going to be a total waste. Dom was racing tonight, which meant the whole gang would be there. And since she was the flag girl for most of these events, she had no reason to not show up.

Stepping out of her car, she shook off the remnants of her bad mood and walked toward the group, which was crowded around Dom's car. She rolled her eyes but didn't let her annoyance fully take over.

"So what's the play?" she asked, eyebrow raised as she approached. "You racing, or are you guys just gonna stand around like horny pre-teens?"

Dom turned his head, offering her a smirk. "Two thousand-dollar buy-in, winner takes all. How's that sound, CJ?"
"It's exactly what I needed to hear," Christiana said, offering Dom a sly smile.

"Good. Here, you hold half of the money; Hector will take the rest," Dom explained, handing her a thick stack of cash. Without a second thought, she tucked it into the cup of her bikini, the cool bills making her feel a little more grounded in the chaos.

"Why those two?" A boy she didn't recognize, one of the racers, asked.

"Cause she's not gonna let anyone get close enough to take the money from her," Dom answered with a nod in Christiana's direction.

"Yeah, and Hector's too slow to run away with it," Edwin, a street racer she knew from past races, chimed in, making the group chuckle.

Christiana smirked, a rare lightness flickering across her face. "Alright, you boys ready?" she asked, turning her attention to the racers lined up and prepared to go.
