𝑪𝑯𝑹𝑰𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑨𝑵𝑨 𝑪𝑶𝑼𝑳𝑫𝑵'𝑻 SLEEP. She tossed and turned for hours, her mind refusing to quiet down. Everything about the day with Brian replayed in her head on a maddening loop—the laughter, his words, the way he looked at her, the way he made her feel.
She knew she shouldn't dwell on it, but it was like trying to put out a wildfire with a glass of water. The more she thought about it, the more she felt like soaking herself in gasoline and lighting a match just to end the torment.
Eventually, the silence of her home became unbearable. She hated the loneliness of being trapped with her thoughts. So, in a moment of desperation, she did something impulsive. It wasn't considerate, and on any other night, she wouldn't have dared. But tonight, she was running out of options.
At 1 a.m., Christiana stood on the Toretto's porch, Jesse asleep on her hip, and rang the doorbell. She shifted on her feet, letting out a sigh of relief when Mia finally opened the door.
"It's one in the morning, you know," Mia sighed, her voice flat.
Christiana opened her mouth to apologize, but then her eyes narrowed, taking in Mia's disheveled hair, her slightly wrinkled clothes, and the faint flush on her face.
"Uh-huh. And you weren't sleeping, were you?" Christiana teased, raising an eyebrow.
Mia's face turned a deep shade of red as she sputtered, "I—well—I'm an adult! Adults have... adult time with their fiancés, thank you very much."
"Sure," Christiana replied, smirking as she stepped inside. "Don't let me interrupt your 'heinous acts.'"
Mia locked the door with a huff, muttering, "Heinous acts? You have a child, and you're calling it that?"
"I was a very raunchy young adult," Christiana shrugged, shifting Jesse slightly to adjust his weight.
"Yeah, well, now you're like, celibate or something," Mia joked, trying to suppress a grin.
"Acting like I chose to be," Christiana grumbled, rolling her eyes as she placed Jesse on the couch, carefully tucking a blanket over him.
"Okay, but seriously, why are you here?" Mia asked, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed.
