𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑵𝑬𝑿𝑻 day, Christiana found herself at Dom's Auto Shop, "helping" Jesse work on a car, though she was really just sketching a design for a car she'd seen on her way there.

"Hey, CJ, can we talk for a second?" Mia's voice broke through her concentration.

"Yeah, sure," Chris replied, dropping her sketchbook onto the workbench.

Mia hesitated before blurting out, "Do you like Brian?"

Chris's eyes widened in shock.

"The tuna sandwich guy?" Jesse asked, still trying to catch up.

"Yes, the tuna guy, and no, I don't like him," Chris lied, looking from Jesse to Mia.

"Why would you think that?" Chris asked, her tone a little defensive, but also confused by Mia's assumption.

"I saw you two talking last night," Mia explained. "You seemed pretty close."

Chris froze for a moment, her thoughts scrambling. The only time they'd had a real conversation that night was when she told Brian it was over between them.

"Okay, look," Chris sighed, the words she didn't want to say finally spilling out. "I don't want to lie to you. Me and Brian were hooking up, but it's over now." She muttered the last part, not meeting their eyes.

Jesse snickered, unable to resist. "Vince is gonna flip," he said with a grin.

Chris slapped his arm, annoyed. "Not now, Jesse."

Mia looked at Chris, confused but also hurt. "So the guy I like... is the guy you've been sleeping with?" she asked, her expression scrunching in discomfort.

Chris took a deep breath. "Yes, but I didn't know you liked him until yesterday. And after I found out, I completely shut it down."

Mia's expression softened, but she still looked uncertain. "So you won't hate me if I like him?"

Chris smiled, trying to reassure her. "Mia, I told him to chase you. I could see how he looks at you."

Mia grabbed Chris's hands, her tone sincere. "Promise me you won't hate me, though?"
