𝑪𝑯𝑹𝑰𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑨𝑵𝑨 𝑾𝑨𝑺 going to need a lot of emotional support tonight after agreeing to let Brian come over. So, she did what any reasonable person would do—she invited Eli and Mia over for dinner. When the pair arrived, they were greeted by the sight of Christiana furiously mixing ingredients in a bowl, while Jesse sat on the couch, engrossed in Super Why.

"Hey, Chrissy?" Eli greeted hesitantly, sensing the tension in the air.

"Hi, Eli," Christiana huffed, throwing the spoon down and looking up at him with a tired expression.

"Did I do something?" Eli asked, confused by the abrupt greeting.

"No, you didn't do anything... I just—" Christiana started, her words trailing off as she abruptly wiped her face, trying to push back the frustration.

Eli didn't hesitate. "I think you need a break."

"Yeah, I do. I really do," Christiana sighed, shaking her head in agreement. Her shoulders sagged, a mix of exhaustion and emotional overload weighing on her.

"Alright, come on," Eli said, offering his hand to her. Christiana took it, grateful for the support, and the two made their way to the backyard.

Once they were outside, Eli sat on one of the swings he had set up for Jesse a few months back, his posture relaxed but attentive.

"Alright, what's wrong?" he asked, looking over at Christiana as she sank into the seat beside him.

"I feel weird about Brian being in the house," Christiana groaned, her voice tinged with a mix of anxiety and confusion. "And I don't know why. He's been in my house three times in the past week—one of those times without my knowledge."

Eli raised an eyebrow, a flicker of concern crossing his face. "Do you want me to turn him around when he gets here? I'll do it, happily." His words were playful, but there was an underlying seriousness in his tone. Eli wasn't fully convinced about Brian's return to Jesse and Christiana's lives. While he understood Brian was there for Jesse, the situation still left a sour taste in his mouth. He didn't think Brian should be able to come back as if everything was fine.
