𝑰𝑻 𝑭𝑬𝑳𝑻 surreal how drastically Christiana's life had changed. Brian and Mia had done exactly what they'd said they would, leaving Christiana and Eli to carry out their own reckless plan. It wasn't a choice they made lightly, but it was the only way forward. When Brian and Mia left to put their plan in motion, Christiana and Eli had time to talk. Neither of them wanted to be involved in crime anymore—it wasn't the life they envisioned for themselves—but staying in the States wasn't an option.
Reluctantly, they made their way to Brazil. Christiana knew Brian and Mia would eventually rendezvous there, and she also knew Vince was already there. That connection was all the reassurance they needed to leave the chaos behind.
"This isn't how I thought my life would turn out," Eli muttered as he carefully lifted a sleeping Jesse from the car.
"That makes two of us," Christiana replied, walking around to meet him. "And I used to design the cars Dom used for heists, so my bar for expectations was already low."
Eli shot her a look but chose to let her comment slide. This wasn't the time for jokes.
"You sure this is the place?" he asked, glancing up at the weathered building in front of them.
"From what I heard, yeah," Christiana nodded, her confidence masking the small flicker of doubt in her chest.
Eli trusted her word and followed as they began climbing the stairs, drawing wary stares from the locals as they passed. Christiana kept her head down until a sharp, familiar click froze her in place. She turned just in time to see the barrel of a gun pointed in their direction.
Without hesitation, Christiana shifted behind Eli, subtly positioning Jesse's small head out of harm's way. Tension filled the air until a sharp whistle cut through it.
"I know them!"
Christiana's head whipped around, and her heart skipped a beat at the sight of a face she hadn't seen in years.
"CJ," Vince grinned, walking down the stairs toward her.
"God, you look like a caveman now," Christiana teased, her lips breaking into a relieved smile as she closed the distance between them and wrapped her arms around him.
