𝑪𝑯𝑹𝑰𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑨𝑵𝑨 𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑳𝑳 couldn't bring herself to believe the test results. She had left the hospital just four hours ago, and the first thing she did was call Mia. Together, they headed to the store for three pregnancy tests. Now, the two of them sat in Chris's bathroom, waiting for the results.

"Is this really necessary?" Mia asked, nervously fiddling with her fingers, her voice a mix of concern and uncertainty.

"Yes," Christiana replied, her gaze fixed on the three tests laid out in front of her. "Even doctors make mistakes."

Mia looked at her, brows furrowed. "So, what are you going to do if it's positive?"

Truth be told, Christiana didn't have a clue. She knew who the father was, but he was nowhere to be found, and frankly, she didn't care to look for him. The thought of adoption crossed her mind, but the idea of some stranger raising her child—someone who could be anything like the men who had hurt her—made her stomach churn.

"I don't know," she muttered, the weight of her uncertainty sinking in. "Maybe I should just... I don't know, play in traffic or something." The words came out bitter, dark humor masking the pain she was feeling.

Mia sighed and shook her head, clearly trying to keep things from spiraling. "Listen, whatever happens, you know I'm here for you. You're not alone in this."

Christiana gave a small, grateful smile, but it quickly faded as she checked her watch again.

Five minutes.

"Time's up!" Christiana said, her voice a mix of dread and reluctant anticipation. The two girls huddled closer to the tests, eyes scanning the faint lines.

"Two lines mean positive, right?" Mia asked, fumbling through the boxes to double-check the instructions.

"Yeah, but this one has only two lines," Christiana replied flatly, pointing to one of the tests.

Mia's hand gently brushed Chris's arm. "Honey, a blood test and two out of three of these tests said you're pregnant." Her voice was quiet but firm, like she was trying to comfort her friend but also make her face the reality.
