Chapter 23

Everything was crashing down on Taehyung at once. If it was just one issue he could deal with it. He never thought everything could possibly go wrong at the same time like this.

Here is what he knew for sure. Everyone now knew he was the twins' father, pictures of Clara were everywhere, and there was a video of his parents berating Clara that was circulating like wildfire. The headlines were almost too painful to read.

He barely had the courage to listen to the recording that was circulating of the fight between his parents and Clara but he knew he needed to understand everything that was happening. It was bad. Like worse than he thought it could be. It seemed someone had spliced the video so it was mostly his parents telling Clara the accident was her fault and sharing their thoughts on how she was bad for him. The only part where Clara was talking was to tell them to leave, then it cut to his mother wailing about not being allowed to see her own grandsons.

Not only was Clara's face out in the world, she was being painted to look like an absolute monster. If you had asked him last week what was the worst case scenario he wouldn't have come up with this, not even in his wildest dreams. He could only hope Clara hadn't seen the headlines yet.

And the comments, oh god, he didn't even have words for it. They were vicious toward Clara. There were threats of violence against her. It was bad. Really really bad.

They could try to get everything taken down but it was clearly too late. Taehyung was just frozen. Nothing could have possibly prepared himself for this moment.

The members were starting to trickle into the main suite. It was supposed to be their day to sleep in but this was the kind of thing that couldn't wait. The managers woke each of them up early to come and figure things out together.

Jimin came in first, totally bewildered by why he was up so early and repeatedly asking what was happening. Yoongi was next. He just heaved a big sigh as he collapsed onto the couch, obviously already aware of the situation. He'd probably already seen the articles and the recording. Namjoon was the next to enter and he was enraged. He headed right to Taehyung and greeted him with a punch in the face which Taehyung only dodged by quickly covering his head with his hand. Several managers and Yoongi immediately jumped up to try to restrain Namjoon. They finally got Namjoon in a chair, far away from Taehyung. While his nostrils still flared in anger, at least he wasn't making any movements to physically attack Taehyung again.

"I thought I told you to fix things with your parents," Namjoon gritted out. "Does this look like it was fixed?"

Taehyung deflated further. "No Hyung. I know, it's bad."

"Bad doesn't even begin to cover it, Taehyung-ah."

Taehyung didn't know what else to say. A heavy silence reigned while they waited for the last few to trickle in. Jimin had pulled out his phone and clearly was learning the news real time as he sat in a chair not far from Taehyung. He could hear the periodic gasps and squeaks as he got further into the disastrous news.

After everyone had finally arrived the manager started. "Who has seen the news?" Only Jungkook and Jin looked confused, the rest just slumped in their chairs in exhaustion.
