They went to two more shops where Clara had a similar experience. She found some clothes she admired and a few items for Taehyung, but the price tags caused her eyes to widen in shock. She discovered her credit card was largely irrelevant because clearly Taehyung had given his card to Yejin, recognizing Clara would likely have sticker shock.
"Yejin?" Clara asked as they were paying for several more bags of clothes at the third store, "do you think we could find someplace a little less expensive?"
Yejin gave Clara a soft grin, "Sure thing, let's do that next. I think there is a cute local boutique just a few doors down. Maybe we can find something unique or a hidden treasure."
Clara nodded in relief.
"But should we grab something to eat first?" Yejin asked. "There is a little cafe next door. I already sent Yoonseo to check it out and he said there is a small private booth in the back. I don't know about you but shopping can make me quite hungry!"
This...wasn't part of the plan. They had just agreed to shopping since they knew the boutiques wouldn't be so crowded.
"I don't know." Clara hesitated. "Do you think it will be safe?"
Yejin grabbed her hand. "I'm sure of it. But why don't we text the boys first just to let them know where we are going. That way if anything were to happen they could easily find us. What do you say?"
Clara nervously agreed and pulled out her phone, moving to the corner to have some privacy. Instead of texting she decided to call Taehyung.
"Hey Clara, how's it going? Are you having a good time?"
"Hey Tae, um, it is going ok. Yejin has helped me pick a few things."
"I can't wait to see them baby girl. Are you heading back to the hotel now?"
"Not exactly. So, um, Yejin wants to go to a small cafe next door for lunch."
"Oh, that sounds like fun. knowing Yejin she probably found the perfect place with delicious local food."
"Yeah, I guess..."
"Clara, I can tell you are feeling anxious but I'm sure it will be fine. The security team are professionals at this type of thing. If they can manage Jungkook and Jimin who are always running off and ignoring their advice, then I'm sure they can keep you safe."
"Oh, ok, I guess. But I wonder if I should get back to the boys. I miss them."
"I'm sure they miss you too Clara, but We both know they are perfectly safe and happy with your parents. Remember what your mom and dad said, they wanted you to take your time and be willing to try to go outside your comfort zone. I think they would be proud of you, and I'll be proud of you if you push yourself a little. I'll look forward to hearing about everything when we both get back to the hotel, ok?"
"Yes, ok I guess. Thanks Tae, and I'll let you know when we're done with lunch."
"Sounds good. I love you sweetheart, just keep being brave and courageous. I know you can do it."
"I love you too, by Tae."
"Bye Clara."
Clara returned to Yejin and with a short nod confirmed that she was ready to go.
To make things a bit less conspicuous the two security team members acted more like friends than trained professionals. Clara discovered she really appreciated when Yoonseo held her elbow to guide her, and was even more happy when he offered to order for her after guiding her to a quiet corner.
Clara felt quite stiff for most of the meal, catching herself flinching whenever the bell over the door rang or she saw other guests leave their tables, but eventually she began to relax and enjoy the delicious food. As they neared the end of the meal she caught a few girls looking and pointing their way, which caused Clara's heart to start to race. She was so thankful she was on the side of the both pressed up against the wall. If they came over Yoonseo could discourage them from lingering.
