CHAPTER 44 - I LOVE YOU 💘 !

After they had finished trying almost all the food sold at the stalls, at exactly 5:49 p.m., they decided to part ways as Mark and Nath had other plans.

Mark: We have to go now.

Nath: I had a lot of fun today ☺️.

Raff: Same here. I never knew the famous Natha Ethan would be so much fun to hang out with. Should we do this again ?

Max: Raff... don't exaggerate.

Nath: I’d love to, but it might be quite difficult with my busy schedule. And I can’t go out alone.

Raff: Got it.

Mark: Come on, Nath. We’ll be late.

Raff: Drive safely.

Max watched as Mark placed a hand on Nath’s shoulder. Even from behind, Mark and Nath looked perfect together. Their outfits, their vibe—everything seemed so luxurious. Compared to them, Max felt like he had nothing to match Nath’s world. The only thing he was proud of was his Rainbowall café.

What could he possibly offer Nath if they were in a relationship ? Nath already had everything 💸.

Where would Max even put his pride if he couldn’t give more than what Nath already had ? Sure, the café was doing well, but was that enough ? What would people say if he accepted Nath’s feelings ? He asked himself if he was truly ready to bear the weight of all the comparisons the public would make. After all, love isn't enough if, in the end, they can't find happiness together 💔.

All of Nath’s fanclub would surely disapprove. Who would support their favorite celebrity dating someone from a lower-class background ? They would definitely hate him. Max understood exactly where he stood. He would only end up embarrassing the family known as ‘The rich among the rich.’

All these thoughts kept spinning in Max’s mind, non-stop. What should he do ? He already knew that things were going to get messy and difficult... but his heart said otherwise 💌.

Max arrives at his apartment and starts talking to himself.

Max: Arghhh, I like him ! I like him ! I love him 😔......... Yes, that stubborn little devil ! I love you, Nath ! Why do you have to make me feel all these emotions ? Emotions that are too difficult for me to handle.

Seeing other people treat Nath well only makes Max more aware of his feelings.

Max: Why is loving a human so hard ?! Of all the people I’ve met, why have I never gotten attached to any of them ? Why am I attached to someone who’s impossible for me to have ? I never thought helping Nath would lead me into a mess like this.

Max: Nath looks so perfect with Mark ! So perfect that I wish... I could take Mark’s place. Now, I think I’ve become one of Nath’s crazy fans. What kind of curse did he put on me ? After making my heart suffer with all his sudden confessions... now they’re off somewhere together again ? I bet he enjoyed going out with the man he calls his best friend.

Max: His pout is so cute ! Doesn’t he realize that his cute face could make his best friend fall in love with him ? Who on earth wouldn’t notice that ?! He’s smart, but why can’t he analyze something this obvious ?

Finally, Max gets up from the living room couch and heads to the bathroom for a shower. Afterward, he puts on just a bathrobe and lays down on his bed, his hair still wet. Without realizing it, he falls asleep just like that.
