CHAPTER 40 - GOING OUT 🚘

After the great war between Nath and his father in England, the first thing he wanted to do was return to his hometown and see Max’s face. He missed Max so much.

As soon as they arrived in his hometown, Nath told Leo to drive straight to Rainbowall. Leo genuinely thought Mr. Natha wanted to stop by the café for a drink—but he didn’t 😅. Instead, Mr. Natha sat quietly in the back seat, his eyes searching for something 👀.

Leo was completely confused by Nath. The funny part was, Leo didn’t dare to ask anything after remembering what had happened in England. What if Nath yelled at him for asking? So, he just waited in the car with Mr. Nath until Nath decided it was time to go home 😖. The truth is, Nath simply wanted to catch a glimpse of Max’s face from afar—before officially meeting him again.

Nath believes Max has been the source of his happiness ever since the day he fell in love with him. Just imagining Max getting mad when they meet again makes Nath strangely happy. To Nath, a big guy like Max looks adorably cute when he’s angry 🤭.

What still puzzles Nath is how Leo even got the idea to rent out Rainbowall café for his birthday. Leo seems suspicious. Nath suspects Leo must know something—or is it just too obvious that Nath has feelings for Max ? If Leo really knows… then when exactly did he notice 🤨 ?

Nath was planning when and how he’d meet Max again—but his birthday surprise turned out to be the perfect day for that reunion. Even though Nath usually hates surprises—especially on his birthday—he became the happiest man alive when he realized the celebration was happening at the very place where Max works.

Nath thinks he owes Leo a proper thank-you for the effort he put into planning the surprise. Leo is so unpredictable. Nath feels like Leo has really adapted to his behavior—and even learned to read what he likes and dislikes. Nath also realizes now that being his assistant is not easy. He’s seen how patient Leo has been with him through it all.

Nath: Arghh. I should sleep. My eye bags are getting worse.

So much has happened in the nearly two months since Nath left his hometown—and even more after he returned. The good thing is, now that he's back, Nath is genuinely happy 😊. He’s smiling more with the people closest to him, especially Max. He's also thrilled that his friend Mark, who studied with him at NYU, came to celebrate his birthday.

Someone knocks on Nath’s bedroom door.

“Good morning”

A soft whisper in Nath’s ear wakes him up.

Nath: Ohh Mark, what are you doing here 😴 ?

Nath assumes Mark must’ve gotten his address from Leo.

Mark: What am I doing here 🤔 ? I came to wake you up. Mon Chou , my sweetheart.

Nath: It’s too early to wake me up.

Mark: It’s already noon.

Nath: Liar. Didn’t you just say 'Good morning' ? “He mumbles in his sleepy voice”

Mark: I wish I could turn this afternoon into morning, but I can’t. Look at the clock—it’s 2:27 p.m.

Nath: Let me sleep a few more hours...

Mark: Nope ! I’m tired from driving around just to find your house and spend time with you. Come on, Mon Chou... open those cute eyes and come with me to find something to eat.
