CHAPTER 27 - SECRETLY STARED 🧐

FYI - Start from now on, I will not use any of MAXNAT photo for this Fanfic because it's hard to find a photo to suit the situation.

Nath finishes packing his things. As he walks toward the car, Max catches sight of him but quickly turns his face away, pretending not to notice.

Nath gets into the car and glances at Max. Seeing no movement from him, Nath whispers…

Nath: Max, are you sleeping 😶 ?

Max isn't actually asleep… he just doesn’t know how to react when Nath is around.

Nath: Max ? I need to know your home address. Nath gently taps Max’s shoulder.

Max, determined to keep up the act, yawns dramatically, trying to convince Nath he was really asleep.

Max: Huh ? What are you asking me ?

Nath: Your home address. I need to set my GPS. I’ll drive you back to your place.

Max: Oh… my address… “ Max suddenly stops speaking 😐 ”

He hesitates. Maybe he shouldn't tell Nath where he lives. He doesn’t want Nath to know his home, so he twists his words.

Max: Umm… just drop me off at the café instead 😐.

Nath: Really ? You don’t want to go home and change your clothes first ?

Max: It’s fine. Remember, I left my car at the café. I need to go back there soon anyway 🙂.

Nath: But I don’t mind waiting for you to shower before I drop you off.

Max: No, no, no need 🙂. I have some spare clothes at the café. I’ll just shower there.

Max keeps coming up with excuses—he just doesn't want Nath to know where he lives. The thing that worries Max the most… what if Nath starts targeting his house just because he didn’t get the CCTV footage ? It’s already bad enough that Nath keeps showing up at his café.

Nath: Your boss must be pretty generous, letting staff shower at work 😌.

Max: You’re right ! He’s the nicest person I’ve ever met. “ Max seizes the chance to praise himself 🤭 ”

Nath: So… does that mean your boss is finally back from his outstation trip ? I hope to meet him soon. You said he’s nice, so maybe I can talk to him about the CCTV footage 😌.

Hearing that, Max instantly pretends to be asleep. He doesn’t want to answer Nath’s questions.

Nath: Pretending to sleep ? “ Nath chuckles as he watches Max avoid the conversation ”

Nath reaches for the blanket in the back seat. Max, who was only pretending to sleep, suddenly feels something soft draped over him. Nath is covering him with a blanket, making him uncomfortable… Why is Nath being so nice to him ?

Suddenly, Max recalls waking up with a blanket over him when they arrived at the beach earlier. He never grabbed one himself, so.. was it Nath back then, too ?

Nath: Get some rest ☺.

Max doesn’t know what to feel. His heart races, threatening to leap out of his chest. Why did Nath have to say that so close to his face ? He’s sure his face is turning red… He prays Nath doesn’t notice his embarrassment.
