CHAPTER 29 - MESSAGE 💬

Max took a shower in his own café. Fortunately, he still had some clothes in his office. After showering, he lay down on the office couch and slept until it was time for the café to open.

As usual, Rainbowall Café opened right on time. However, Max’s employees were puzzled—why had their boss arrived earlier than them ? They felt uneasy, worried that something might have happened at the café. The scariest possibility ? A surprise monthly evaluation on how they serve customers 😟.

Raff: Boss ? You’re here early today 😶...

Max: Why ? Is there something wrong with me arriving early ?

Raff: Not really… it’s just unusual. You normally show up around 11 a.m. 😶

Max tried his best not to look suspicious. What would his employees think if they found out he didn’t go home last night 😶 ?

By 8 p.m., Max couldn’t stop glancing at his phone. He stared at the lock screen, but no new messages had come through. All he could see was his bright wallpaper—a rainbow against a cloudy sky, glowing softly on his screen 🌈☁️.

The person has already read the message. Max understands that it's impossible to reply while driving 🚗💬. But if you look at the time—it's almost 9 p.m.—surely they've made it home by now 🕓🏠.

Max pretends it doesn’t bother him 😐, but if the person is safe at home, they could at least reply to his message📱! Max isn’t mad for no reason—he’s just upset because he's being ignored 😠.

“Huh, Max ? Why are you even mad? It's just one message... not a big deal, right 😌 ? —Sincerely, the Author 🌼”

Max almost throws his phone across the room 📱💥, but stops himself when he notices a lot of customers in his café ☕👥. He takes a deep breath, trying to calm down, and keeps glancing at his phone 📲.

Frustrated, Max walks into the kitchen and starts helping with the cooking 🔥🍳—that’s always been his way of calming down. Sometimes, he even experiments with new recipes to distract himself 🍲🧠.

Chef Ron: Boss, are you okay 😶 ?

To the staff, it’s obvious—if their boss suddenly steps into the kitchen and quietly starts cooking, something’s definitely wrong. Max usually doesn’t help out back there ; he fully trusts his head chef with the kitchen 👨🏻‍🍳✅.

Max: Yeah, I’m fine. Do I look like I’m not okay 🙂 ?

Chef Ron: If I may say so, Boss… it's pretty clear you’re not okay. Want to talk about it ? Is something bothering you 🤔 ?

Chef Ron is more mature in the way he thinks 🧠. At almost 35 years old, he’s the oldest person working at the café ☕. Ron dreams of opening his own café one day, but he's too lazy to handle everything by himself 😴.

Ron is one of the chefs at the university where Max studies 🎓. He’s known Max for several years, and over time, they’ve become good friends 🤝🏻. Ron loves cooking, and when he heard that Max wanted to open his own café after graduation, he decided to invest and become a 40% shareholder in Max’s café 💼🍽️.

Max: Nothing happened 🙂.

Chef Ron: If nothing happened, then why are you in my kitchen cooking up a new recipe 😑 ? Your job is to handle office matters, not to be in here playing chef.
