Raph's POV
"What were you thinking?!?" Leo exclaimed as Donnie and Mikey stood in front of us. They were scratched and bruised up, clearly having been in some type of fight. Right before they got back Leo's show had been interrupted by a broadcast reporting on an explosion nearby and warning people to stay indoors. Then when Donnie and Mikey showed up looking like this it was pretty easy to put the pieces together.
"I was thinking that it's not fair for only you to get a say when it comes to missions. I thought that the possible threat was worth investigating, and it turns out Raph was right," Donnie said, "they had tons of vials of the mind control serum or whatever it was. So I blew it up and I brought a few back to test, to see what exactly they were doing."
Donnie reached down and began to pull out some vials he had pocketed before a look of panic spread across his face.
"What is it Donnie?" I asked. Donnie pulled two vials out before letting out a defeated sigh.
"I had grabbed three, but one is missing. It must've fallen out during the explosion," he answered.
A sudden look of realization crossed his face.
"What?" I asked.
"When we were running back to the lair I looked back and saw Tigerclaw pick something up. I didn't think much of it but looking back now...," he sighed, "It must've been the third vial."
"Great, so your dangerous mission accomplished nothing," Leo snapped.
"They'll be able to start mass production again immediately. Meaning that you risked your lives for nothing! Donnie seriously, this could've ended so much worse," Leo fumed, clearly upset that they went rogue.
"My sons, what is the matter," a voice spoke up behind us. We froze.
"Busted," Mikey muttered, all of us shooting him glares.
"We heard that Shredder was creating some type of mind control serum. I deemed it too dangerous to follow up, especially since we didn't know for sure if it was true or not, but Donnie and Mikey went out despite that and blew up a building," Leo explained, leaving out some details that I was thankful for.
"Well, were they?" Splinter questioned.
"Were they what sensei?" Leo asked, a bit of a confused look on his face.
"Were they creating a mind control serum?"
"We're not sure just yet but they were making something. I was able to bring some back, so I'll be able to test it and see what exactly it is," Donnie responded.
"As far as I can tell the information seemed to be good. You destroyed most of whatever it was they were making and everybody came back safe. So really there's no need to cause such an uproar," Splinter concluded, having all the information he needed.
"But sensei, they could've been seriously hurt! And if it ended up being a trap then they could've been caught by Shredder," Leo said.
"You need to have more trust in your brothers Leonardo, they are stronger than you think," Splinter gave him a comforting smile. Leo seemed conflicted for a second before relenting to his words.
"Yes sensei, I understand."
"Good. Now I'm off to bed. Goodnight boys," Splinter said, beginning to head back to his room.
"Goodnight sensei," we answered in unison.
Karai's POV
"You called for me master?" I questioned, stepping inside the throne room.
