Raph's POV
"Alright, what's the plan Leo?" I asked as we crouched down.
"The first place I think we should look at is her bedroom. See if maybe she's in there first. Do you happen to know where it is?" Leo looked over to me expectantly.
"No, I don't," I frowned.
"Actually I think I might have just the thing for this," Donnie piped up, raising his hand like he was in class.
"Go ahead Don," Leo encouraged.
"It's still just a prototype, so I'm not sure how far I can take it, but at least we can start to get a look around in some of the rooms," Donnie began to pull a small metal square out of a pocket he had on his shoulder straps.
"How's that going to help us?" I asked, looking down at the small object.
"It's a tiny drone that looks like a bug," he explained, pressing a button on the side of the box. It started to unfold and piece itself back together before turning into what looked like a metal beetle, sleek iridescent wings protruding from its back.
"I have it hooked up to my tablet, so we should be able to get live footage right from here," Donnie said.
"That's perfect, now hurry up and get it going," I urged, getting inpatient with how long this was taking. Every minute we we're out here was a minute where anything could be happening to Esme.
Donnie turned on his tablet and then typed around on it for a minute before holding the bug out.
"Here we go," he muttered, the metal bug's wings suddenly lifting itself up.
"Sweeeet dude," Mikey said, staring at it in awe. We all gathered around the iPad as Donnie sent the bug off to start spying. After flying to the side of the building we noticed a window.
"There!" I pointed.
"I see it," Donnie shooed my hand away before continuing on. He steered the bug to make it land on the windowsill.
The contents of the room came into focus. There was a bed in the corner of the room with a dark green comforter and a golden bed frame. Next to it was a nightstand with a stack of books, a lamp, and an empty glass. There was a rug and another door that probably led to the bathroom on the other side of the wall.
When the bug turned to the right to look in more, a bookshelf came into view that was littered with a bunch of crocheted animals.
"This is her room," I confirmed, remembering the gift she had given to me.
"It doesn't look like she's in here," Donnie said, making the bug take off once again and directing it to the window that was next to this one.
This time however, the room was occupied.
"Is that Karai?" Leo asked, leaning forward to get a better look.
"Dude you're right, that's totally her," Mikey replied. This room was darker than the last. Black bed sheets, black dresser, and a black vanity. There was a skateboard in the corner and what looked to be some sketchbooks on the dresser. And sitting at the vanity, attempting to put her makeup on, was Karai.
We watched, her hand shaking as she attempted to apply the red marks around her eyes that she normally sported. Then suddenly, her bottom lip began to quiver. She threw down the brush, her head falling into her hands as she gripped tightly onto her hair, her whole body slightly shaking. From this angle we could see a band aid wrapped around her hand.
"She's... crying," Donnie muttered.
"But why? That does not seem like Karai at all," Mikey frowned, shaking his head at the sight.
