Unknown POV

I sighed, leaning down to take off my heels. My keys jangled in my hand, echoing throughout my quiet apartment. Once my shoes were off I made my way to the kitchen, setting my keys and wallet onto my table before taking a seat.

I leaned back in my chair, eyes closed as I took a deep breath. Work had been rough. Managing an office wasn't exactly easy, and it had been a long day.

My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I let out a small groan before taking it out and looking at the caller ID.

I looked at it, confused. Why was he calling me?

"Hey Johnny, what's going on?"

"I apologize for the sudden call, but it's urgent." His deep voice sounded the same as it did when I left. How long ago was that?

"Is everything okay?" I asked, running a finger over the lid of the salt shaker, subconsciously tipping it back and forth.

"Your brother's dead."

The salt shaker fell. I leaned forward in my chair, quickly putting it back into place before withdrawing my hand into my lap.

"What?"

"All I've been told is that it was some sort of accident. Your father wants you to fly out."

"When?"

"Tomorrow. The details will be sent to your email tonight."

"Okay." A deep breath, "Thank you Johnny."

"See you tomorrow." The call ended. I put the phone on the table, staring at it for a moment before glancing at the family photo resting on the entryway table.

I needed to pack.
