Esme's POV

I watched Raph's face carefully, noticing how his eyes widened. I had taken a large sheet and strung it up on the wall and placed a projector far enough away to where the picture would fit the 'screen' just right. I also had a bunch of blankets and pillows set up in front of the sheet with a ton of snacks. I ran over to the blankets and pillows, motioning for him to join me.

"This is awesome," Raph finally said as he took a seat next to me on the blankets, still looking around in awe. I grinned, all the nerves I had felt before melting away now that I knew he liked what I set up.

"Yay, I'm so glad you think so," I replied.

"So, what movie do you have in store for us tonight?" Raph asked.

"I'm glad you asked. I present our movie choices," I responded, pulling out a basket full of movies from behind me.

"Oh my, I feel so spoiled," he joked, a cheesy smile on his face as he started looking through the movies. After a few seconds he stumbled on one of the only horror movies in the basket, The Conjuring. A mischievous look crossed his face as he picked it up and showed it to me.

"This one."

"Ooh horror, I didn't expect that," I said, pulling the disc out of the case and going over to the projector to put it in.

"Sure you can handle it?" he smirked up at me.

"I think I'll manage," I said, starting to put two and two together as to why he chose this movie. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I actually loved horror movies.

"It's ok Esme, you don't have to act tough. I'll even let you hold onto me if you get too scared," he offered, lifting his arm up as I crawled back into my previous spot, leaning against him.

"That's so sweet, thanks Raph," I smiled up at him as his arm wrapped around my shoulders, holding me closer to him.

"Don't mention it." The movie started playing. And so it began.

Raph's POV

Why the hell did I choose this movie?!

Esme had been cool as a cucumber this whole time. She hadn't jumped once! I, on the other hand, had been scared by every jumpscare so far. I tried to play it off at first, despite the fact I was scared out of my mind, but by the second scare I was about ready to tap out.

We were at the part where the mom was trapped in the basement at the top of the stairs. She only had matches to see and after lighting some a pair of hands came from the darkness and clapped by her ear, scaring the shit out of not only her, but me as well. I actually screamed this time, gripping on tightly to Esme.

She chuckled, giving me a little pat on the arm.

"It's ok Raph, it's just a movie," she said.

"I know that! I'm not afraid or anything," I replied, denying any possibility of me being scared. I don't think I fooled her though, most likely because I was shaking like a leaf.

"We can always choose another movie if you want," her voice was gentle and understanding. I appreciated her being kind enough to ask me what I wanted to do, but at this point my pride absolutely would not let me take her offer. Along with my need to impress her.

"No no, I'm ok," I said, sitting up a little more and steeling myself for the rest of the movie. I could do this, no more messing around Raph, it's time to get serious. In response Esme turned towards me, cuddling deeper into my chest. Her leg rested on top of mine, startling me.

"That's when another scare happened, making me jump. "FUCK."

Esme's POV

Once the movie was over I could hear Raph breathe a sigh of relief.

"Looks like you had trouble handling it, didn't you Raph," I teased, poking his chest.

"How did you not jump at all?" he asked, looking down at me incredulously.

"I love scary movies, sometimes I watch them to fall asleep."

"Are you crazy?" he asked after taking a second to process what I said.

"Crazy for you," I said, wiggling my eyebrows at him, which made him laugh.

"Stop that, what are you doing with your face?" he chuckled, reaching up and poking my face.

"I'm wiggling my eyebrows, right?" How could he not tell?

"It just looks like your face is twitching," he snickered.

"Aww man, I totally thought I was," I whined, disappointed that all I had accomplished was moving my face strangely.

"You picked that up from Casey didn't you?" he smirked.

"How did you know," I gasped.

"Because he does it all the time," Raph rolled his eyes.

"Well you shouldn't roll your eyes so much, you know they can get stuck like that?" I poked his head in return. Before I could retract it he grabbed my wrist, and the next thing I knew he was on top of me with my hands pinned to the ground above my head.

My cheeks flushed red as I looked up at him, realizing the very compromised position I was in.

"It was just a joke, heh, just messing around you know?" I laughed nervously, not knowing what to expect next. How did we end up here?!

"I know," he smirked down at me, before he suddenly leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to my jaw.

"If I remember correctly, weren't we very rudely interrupted yesterday?" he murmured in my ear, followed by another kiss. The butterflies in my stomach doubled as I tried to piece together a coherent sentence.

"Um, yeah, I think... I remember that," I replied breathlessly, his barrage of kisses continuing.

"How do you feel about picking up where we left off?" he asked, looking up at me, his eyes ablaze.

"Good. I mean, that sounds good," I managed to get out. He didn't hesitate in crashing his lips onto mine.

I could get used to this dating thing.
