Esme's POV

"Here everybody, let's give her some space," Donnie said, attempting to pry Raph off me. He finally gave in after letting out a few disgruntled noises.

The guys backed off a little as Donnie knelt down in front of me.

"How are you feeling?" he asked, feeling my pulse, just to be sure everything was okay.

"A little sore, but other than that fine," I replied. "I am a little confused though. What happened?" I asked, trying to think of the last thing I remembered. The guys glanced at each other nervously.

"Shredder put you under the mind control serum," Raph told me, the memories rushing back as soon as the words left him.

Being strapped down to the table, the fear I felt, Karai....

"Where's Karai?" I exclaimed, quickly standing up and looking around. I thought she had been here a second ago, but maybe my memory was deceiving me?

"She's right... here?" Leo looked to his side, but then frowned as he realized she wasn't where he thought she was. I glanced over suddenly, noticing a figure standing by the roof entrance, cloaked in shadow. Without thinking I ran to the person. Who else could it be but Karai?

"Esme, stop, where are you going?" Raph called from behind me.

"Karai, I'm so glad you're here," I said, getting closer to the figure, still not able to quite make out their features. I needed her to know I wasn't upset at her. Then suddenly a hand shot out from the darkness, grabbing onto me. A cool blade was pressed against my throat.

"Sorry to disappoint my dear, but unfortunately your family have been quite the tricksters. Don't worry, you'll all get what's coming to you, but I think it would be most fun to start with you first," Grayson's smooth voice practically purred in my ear, a shiver running down my spine. He stepped out of the shadows with me and moved closer to the edge of the roof as the turtles froze.

"Don't mind us, just a couples quarrel. You can go back to whatever hole it is you crawled out of," Grayson sneered at them.

"Where the hell did you come from?" Leo exclaimed.

"It's a pretty funny story actually. I overheard the Shredder talking about plans of betrayal and, well you see, I don't take that kind of thing lightly. So I decided to come back to see if I could overhear anything else. That's when I heard about mind control and taking over the gangs of New York. What I'm doing now is simple, really. I'm killing all the traitors," I could feel him grinning behind me.

Raph took a step forward, clearly pissed.

"Ah ah ah, I wouldn't do that if I were you," Grayson pushed the knife harder against my throat, a warm stream of blood dripping down my neck as he broke skin. A panicked look spread across Raph's face and he immediately stopped moving.

"Please, we'll do anything you want, just let her go," Raph tried to bargain with him, very clearly trying to keep his cool so nobody lost their heads (literally). Grayson was quiet for a second before a little laugh left him.

"You care about her don't you?" he snickered. I watched as Raph's jaw tightened, a murderous look in his eyes.

"Raph, calm down," Leo muttered beside him, not wanting the situation to get more out of hand than it already was.

"You totally do! Oh that is rich. I mean come on, let's be real here. Do you think someone who looks like you could ever be with someone like her?" he laughed. A real, guttural laugh, as if Raph's feelings were the funniest thing in the world.

"That's not true," I hissed at him.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I don't remember fucking asking," he growled, his grip on me tightening. I gasped as he dug the knife in a little deeper.
