Esme's POV

"What kind of dress would be good for a dinner date?" I frowned, looking through the racks.

"Maybe this one?" Karai replied, holding up a lacey gray dress.

"Hm, no I don't think so."

"Do you know what Grayson's favorite color is?"

"No, I don't," I sighed, looking over and noticing a red dress peeking out between a few other items of clothing.

I walked over to it, pulling it off the rack. It was a satin slip dress with a cowl neck that looked like it would stop right above my knees.

"That's pretty," Karai spoke up from behind me.

"Yeah, it is."

At some point I realized I had grown fond of the color red. I wonder why that was? I ended up getting the dress along with another dark blue one for my date tonight.

"Hey, wanna get some food?" Karai asked.

"Sure, pizza sounds really good right now."

My stomach grumbled as I saw people with their own slices at tables nearby. We went up to the food stand, each getting a huge slice before sitting down at a table for two. Although the pizza was good, I couldn't stop myself from comparing it to Antonio's, a smile sliding on my face as I thought of the first time I had tried their pizza.

"Esme, is everything ok?" Karai asked.

"Yes of course, why wouldn't it be?"

"You've just been kind of quiet today."

"Sorry, I hadn't noticed. I think I'm just a little nervous about tonight is all," I said. Technically not a lie, but really only half the truth.

"Ok, if you're sure," she said after a slight pause. Once we finished our food we walked around the mall a little more, stumbling upon a skate shop.

"Ooh, let's go there, I need to get my own board," I said excitedly, grabbing her arm and pulling her along as I made my way to the shop.

"Are you sure? Last time you tried skateboarding it was a total disaster."

"Of course I'm sure! I have to get better so that we can go skateboarding together," I replied. She smiled slightly at my response.

"Alright, I guess we gotta get you a board then."

She showed me which boards were best for a beginner and after I picked one out we went to get shoes and accessories for my outfits. About an hour later we were on our way home.

. . .

"Right this way," the host said as we followed him to an empty table for two. When Shredder said this place was fancy, he meant it. When we pulled up to the restaurant I honestly thought we were at the wrong place. It was a grand building with an awning above the entrance, lights everywhere. There was a valet that took the sports car Grayson had picked me up in and once we got inside it was even more apparent just how much money you had to have in order to eat here.

The chairs looked extremely comfortable and that thought was proven true once we took our seats. There were multiple chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and someone on a stage in the corner playing some soothing music on a piano. The host handed us some menus and then let us know that our server would be with us shortly.

"Thank you," I said, smiling up at him.

"Of course ma'am," he replied, smiling in return before heading back up to the host stand.
