Plus one

y: "No, leave me alone!" I slammed the door and walked to my bed.
Niko walks in.
Niko: "Please, y/n! I'm begging you."
y: "NO. No, now get out."
Niko: "Please, I'll do anything."
y: "Anything?"
Niko: "Yes."
y: "Hm... okay. What's your favor?"
Niko: "Be my plus one to my cousin's wedding."
y: "Yeah... never mind."
Niko: "What?! y/n, please. It'll be the last favor I'll ask!" A frown starts forming on his face.
Niko: "We'll keep our distance. We just have to act in front of my family."
y: "Fine. Now go before I change my mind."

[Wedding day]

I woke up to Niko shaking me.
y: "Mmmph."
Niko: "Wake up! We have to be there by 2. It's 11." I sit up.
y: "Okay, I'll get ready, but can you make me breakfast?"
Niko: "I already did. There are pancakes on the table."
y: "Thanks, get out." He leaves my room. I go inside my bathroom to do my morning routine and hop in the shower. After I'm done, I head to my vanity and put on my headband.
y: "I'm so hungry right now."

I texted Niko, "Omg Niko! Come in here, we have an emergency!" I can hear him rush over.
He opens the door.
Niko: "What?"
y: "Can you bring me the pancakes? I'm hungry."
Niko: "Really? You could do it yourself." I sigh.
y: "I guess I won't be attending--"
Niko: "Fine!" He goes out and comes back with the pancakes.
Niko: "Need anything else?" he says annoyed.
y: "Nah, but I'll let you know." He leaves, and I continue to get ready while eating. After I finish doing my makeup, I get up to put my plate away. I go back to do my hair and change into my outfit. I add some jewelry and spray perfume.

I check the time, and it's 1:08. I check up on Niko, and he's putting on a tie. I walk up to him.
y: "Let me help you." As I tie his tie, I can feel his eyes on me.
y: "Do I look weird or something?" I say chuckling.
Niko: "... no, just beautiful."
y/t: Niko complimenting me. Weird. But it honestly had me exploding inside.
y: "You don't look bad yourself." I finish, and we both look in the mirror.
y: "Looking good. Now let's go."

[At the venue]

When we arrive at the venue, Niko introduces me to some of his family.
Niko: "Mom, meet y/n. y/n, meet my mom."
y: "Hi, it's nice to meet you." I say, giving her a hug.
Niko's mom: "It's nice to meet you too! Oh, honey, you are so beautiful!" She says, grabbing both hands. I smile at her compliment.
y: "Aw, thank you! You look absolutely gorgeous as well, Mrs. Omilana."
Niko's mom: "Oh, stop!" She giggles.
y: "Niko, I think your mom and I will be besties."
Niko's mom: "You heard right! Come, let's take a seat." She links arms with me, and we find seats.

Niko's POV: It warms my heart to see y/n and my mom getting along. She's the first girl my mom has liked that I introduced her to.

[Skip to the wedding reception]

I get introduced to most of his family members by Niko's mom instead of Niko. As Niko's mom is talking to some people, I notice Niko sitting alone.

y: "I'll be right back."
Niko's mom: "Okay, darling."

I make my way towards Niko, but then I see a wedding cake. I go over to the dessert table, grab a slice of cake, and head over to him.

y: "Take a bite." I bring the fork with cake closer to his face.
Niko: "No, I'm good."
y: "Pleaseeee." He takes a bite.
y: "Good, right?"
Niko: "Yeah."
y: "Why so sad?"
Niko: "Nothing."

Niko's POV: As she speaks, she eats the cake, and her hair is in the way. I gently push it back for her.
y: "Thanks, let me clip my hair up." She grabs a claw clip.
Niko: "Let me do it."
y: "Do you know how?"
Niko: "I can try." She hands me her clip. As I touch her hair, it feels so soft, and it smells really good. I clip up her hair. She opens her camera app on her phone and looks at it.
y: "Looks good, thanks." She smiles at me.
y: "I have to throw this away. Be right back."

y's POV: I get up from my seat to throw away my plate.

???: "y/n, long time no see." I turn around and see my ex, Kaleb.
y: "Kaleb? what are you doing here?!"
Kaleb: "i'm here for a wedding, what are you doing here?"
y: "I'm here as a plus one fo- for my- my boyfriend"
Kaleb: "boyfriend?"
y: "Yes. M-my boyfriend."
y's POV: Sh!t... why did I say that?
Kaleb: "I don't believe you. Prove it."
y: "Let me introduce him to you. Come." As we walk back to the table, I feel so embarrassed.
y: "Niko, babe." I tap on his shoulder. He looks at me, confused.
y: "Meet an old friend, Kaleb." He stands up.
Kaleb: "Nice to meet you."
Niko: "Nice to meet you too."
Kaleb: "So, how'd you meet?"
y: "Love at first sight." I say, planting a kiss on Niko's cheek.
Kaleb: "Oh, okay. Well, it was nice seeing you, y/n. Bye." He walks away.
y: "Ew, I can't believe I did that." I say, sitting down.
Niko: "Don't worry, babe. It's over." He says, jokingly.
Niko: "Who was that?"
y: "He's an ex... very surprised to see him here."
Niko: "Oh."
y: "Yeah..." I do a bold move and lay my head on his shoulder. I pull out my phone and open Snapchat.
y: "Niko, look." He looks at the camera and laughs at the filter. I capture the photo, making it even funnier. I put my left elbow on the table, holding my head up and looking at him. Up close, he looks very good, with his clean haircut, nice thick brows, clean-shaved beard, and plump lips. I look deep into his eyes, then to his lips, and back up to his eyes.

y: "I could kiss you right now."
Niko: "No one's stopping you." I smile and lean in, giving him a kiss. You know that saying when you kiss someone and you feel like a spark? I didn't believe in that until I experienced it with Niko. I think I like him...

[Two weeks later]

For the past two weeks after the wedding, Niko and I have been getting closer, kissing each other at random moments, even around our friends, which definitely shocked them. They thought we were like enemies living with each other and would kill each other.

Honestly, I never expected us to be like this, but it's the best unexpected feeling. I'm glad I agreed to be his plus one.
