Say "mama"

Niko was out running errands while Mealani and I stayed home. (She's 8 months old).

After bathing Mealani, I changed her into clean clothes. I gently lifted her up and placed her on my lap, turning on Ms. Rachel for her. Suddenly, I received a Facetime call from Niko and answered it.

y: Look, baby, say hi to dada. ~ She looked at the camera and smiled.
Mealani: DaaaDaaa ~ Niko smiled.
Niko: Hi, my love. ~ Mealani looked at me with a smile, and I gave her a kiss, making her giggle.

Niko: I'm on my way home. Do you need anything?
Me: Can I get a Strawberry Açaí refresher, please?
Niko: Okay, I'll see you later. Bye, love you.
Me: Bye, love you too. I hung up.

I picked up Mealani and turned her around to face me.
y: Can you say mama? ~ She started jumping.
Mealani: Mmm. ~ My eyes lit up.
Mealani: Dada!~  I started laughing.
y: No, mama. ~I said it slowly for her.
Mealani: Dada! ~ She continued jumping. I brought her close to me and started tickling her making her giggle.
y: Ma-
Mealani: Dada dada dada dada. ~ I couldn't help but laugh.
y: Mealani, girl.

A couple of minutes later

we heard the door open.

y: Dada is here! ~ She stood up, holding onto the crib's rim, and I picked her up. We headed out and saw Niko.
Mealani: Dada! ~ Niko walked over to us and put his hand out. I gave Mealani to him. He gave me a kiss, and I went to grab the drink from the table.

Niko sat on the couch and started lifting Mealani up high, making her laugh. I couldn't help but smile.

Later at 3:30, Nella and I decided to go out and get our hair done.
y: Hey, I'm heading out now. Have fun. ~ I kneeled down to Mealani, who was in her walker.
y: Bye, baby. I love you. I gave her a kiss on the cheek. Then, I went over to Niko to give him a kiss as well. As I was about to leave, Mealani started crying. Niko stood up to carry her.
y: I'll be right back, okay? I walked over to her, wiped her tears
y:Put on Sofia the First, okay? ~ Then I walked out.

Niko's POV:
I was feeding Mealani some Banana Puffs.
Mealani: Mmm.
Niko: Good? ~ out of nowhere, she says,
Mealani: Mmmama. ~ I was surprised, so I took out my phone and started recording.

Niko: Say it again, say "ma-"
Mealani: Mama!
Niko: Omg, she said Mama! ~ I stopped recording and sent the video to y/n.

Back to y/n's POV:
I was getting my hair styled when I received a notification. I checked who it was, and it was a message from Niko. He sent a video. I opened it.

Niko: Say it again, say "ma-"
Mealani: Mama!
Niko: Omg, she said Mama!
My eyes started to water. I replayed the video many times.
Nella: y/n, are you crying?
Me: Nella, look. I showed her the video.
Nella: Omg, that's so cute!

After getting my hair done, I immediately headed home.
As I opened the door, I was greeted by the sight of Mealani playing with her toys on the ground. I couldn't hold back my tears any longer.
I went over and sat next to her, and she crawled over to me. I picked her up, helping her stand, and she reached out to touch my face.

Mealani: Mmmama. ~ I couldn't help but feel overwhelming happiness. I hugged her tightly. Niko walked in and saw us. He sat down next to us, hugging us both.

Niko: Aw, are you crying? He gently wiped away my tears.
Niko: I have the most beautiful girls here with me. He said, giving us both a kiss on the cheek.
