47: In your Hands

Author's POV

"Ouch," Y/n groaned as they stood up from the ground and she looked around to see the exact same place where she wanted to be. Where everything began. The balcony of the castle. 

"This is where everything began. The perfect beginning to your plan. Isn't it, grandmother? Can I even call you that?" Y/n asked with a bitter feeling in her chest. Kiara looked at her. "Of course, deity. You will forever be my cherished one."

"Can you be honest with me right now?" Y/n asked and Kiara smiled at her. "I will. If that is what you want."

"Who are you?" Y/n asked.

"Just a human. Who has lost a lot of time. I'm older. Older than I look. A scientist. A traveler. I saw the Multiverse. And it was time so I took control. I saw their chaos spreading across realities. I am the only one who can see that it's broken. My Variants are far from being calm like me. They will destroy--"

"But you destroyed as well."

"I ended the Multiversal War!" Kiara barked, grabbing Y/n by her throat but she didn't even faze but kept staring into her eyes without blinking, "Do you have any idea how many rebellions I have put down? How many Gods I have killed? And you think you can beat me?" She shouted in rage, eyes burning in anger as she tightened her grip on Y/n's neck and her eyelids dropped lower but still she kept eye contact.

"I am Key!"

Kiara spat in rage and Y/n's lips curved upwards slightly, head feeling dizzy because of the tight choke hold. "Do you know who you are in the eyes of others?" Y/n choked out. 

"Who am I?"

"A megalomaniacal monster who thinks that she is a Universal Goddess." 

Kiara chuckled and loosened her grip from Y/n's neck, releasing her as she collapsed to the ground, coughing vigorously as she held her neck. "Let me make things easier for you," Kiara said and extended her hand, getting a bow and an arrow, the exact same one that Y/n uses, and giving it to her.

Y/n frowned but took it from her. "What is this?"

"The thing you love. Archery. I taught you myself." Kiara said and Y/n looked up at her, quirking an eyebrow. "So that's it? This is what happens in the end. And now you are just going to stand here with all that freedom and let me decide your fate?"

"Entirely. This game is for the hungry, the ugly. If you think that I have done terrific and horrific things then wait till you have met my other Variants. They play with the seven essentials of life, or the Celestials that you call, like children. Either you have to join me and my life's work continues. Or," Kiara said and eyed the bow. "Pierce the arrow through my heart and an infinite amount of me start another Multiversal War," Kiara said with a calming smile.

Y/n looked down at the weapon in her hands and then back at her. "So what is it going to be Y/n?" Y/n lifted up her bow and put the arrow on the string, pulling it as the blade of the arrow pointing to her chest. Kiara didn't seem to be terrified of the coming future as she gave her a polite smile.

"You know Y/n, I am a woman who likes to be understood. You could have gone home. You could have seen your mothers again. But you thought you could win." 

And then Y/n's eyes glowed but every second the colors changed.

Silver.

Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red.

"I don't have to win, Kiara." She said and her eyes changed colours again.

Black. 

Y/n gave a crooked smile to her as she whispered,

"We both just have to lose."
