Threat at the Agency

I leaned my head against the table, sighing. "Mannnn... I'm so tired..."

"Late night?" Kunikida asked, typing away on his computer. "This is why you guys shouldn't stay out late drinking."

I shook my head, resting my forehead against my arm. "It's not that, I couldn't sleep is all."

It was true, after the phone call with my father yesterday, it got me thinking. My mind wouldn't stop the racing with thoughts about the Mafia. From their unusual need to track me down, to what will happen once they learn of Atsushi.

Being in the Agency will be good for him, but I can't help but to worry still. I feel the need to watch after him, he is still young after all. I couldn't imagine what he's been through after everything that's happened.

"Seems Dazai and Atsushi are on the way to the Agency." Mr. Fukuzawa spoke up, walking out of his office. "Remember, I don't want anyone stepping in, let's see what he does."

I stood up from my chair, letting out an annoyed grunt. "But why do I have to be a hostage with Naomi? Can't I just hide behind a wall or something?"

He shook his head. "No, because of this mock exam we are making, Jun'ichriō supposedly knows everyone's abilities. Meaning, he would know you could weaken him, thus why you will be a hostage."

I let out a sigh, seeing his point. "Fine... I just don't like the idea." I mumbled.

"Kunikida, if you will fetch the two." Mr. Fukuzawa told him, placing the mock bomb onto the desk.

Once Kunikida walked out the office, everyone began to get into place. "Sorry if I tie the ropes too tight." Jun'ichirō told Naomi and I.

"No, it's fine, we have to make it believable after all." I assured him, sitting down in front of the desk with Naomi as he placed the cloth over our mouths.

Just as Jun'ichirō situated on the desk, the receptionists hid in the hall leading to the presidents office, where he stayed until the exam concluded.

A few seconds later, we heard their voices in the hall. "Well, here goes..." Jun'ichirō sighed, raising his hand with the detonator up, covering his face with the other. "I can't... I can't take it anymore. It's all your fault, the awful Armed Detective Agency's fault."

I glanced up ahead, watching as Kunikida, Atsushi, and Dazai snuck in, hiding behind the plants.

"Now where's the president? BRING ME THE PRESIDENT!" Jun'ichirō shouted, grabbing onto Naomi's shirt. "If you don't, I'll blow everyone in this place to kingdom come."

I gotta hand it to him, he is pretty good at acting. And Naomi... you'd think she was actually frightened.

I shot the deadliest glare I could at him, struggling against my binds to make it seem like I was attempting to get free to attack him, as Naomi let out a gasp from being thrown to the floor.

I glanced to Naomi, crouching over her as if I was checking on her well-being. Giving me a shaky nod, she pushed herself to sit against the desk, squeezing her eyes closed.

God, what are they doing back there? What's taking forever... I glanced to where they were hiding, as Kunikida finally decided to show himself. "Hey... easy does it, kid."

"Stay away." Jun'ichirō warned him, raising the hand with the detonator. "I only wanna see the president. Don't you try anything funny, or I'll blow this place to bits."

Kunikida held his hands up in surrender. "Okay..."

"I know who you are..." Jun'ichirō waved the detonator, pointing to him. "You're Kunikida. You want me to lower my guard, so you can use that annoying ability of yours to stop me. Well, that sure ain't happening. Lay down on that desk on your hands and knees, and keep both feet above your head!"
