At first, I wanted to dismiss it, convince myself it was fake documents Mori presented me to throw off my ability to think. But the huge seal and stamped logo of the city of Yokohama on the documents led me to believe otherwise.
My whole life, I always thought my father looked young but just assumed he had good genetics to look young for the age he was. But now that I think about it... how old was he? He had to have been eighteen to adopt me, so he must be near his late thirties by now.
(I just slightly changed his age in order for this to work😅)
But I don't remember anything prior to living with him. I thought to myself, resting my cheek onto my hand resting on the arm of the chair. Actually, what was the last thing I remember?
I furrowed my eyebrows together at the sudden thought, trying to think back. I remember going to school for a short period of time before the incident happened but nothing prior to it.
I never really thought much of it at the time... but now? I let out a small pained groan as my head began to hurt.
...
"(Y/N), there's a visitor here to see you!" I turned my head, glancing towards the woman approaching me.
"Visitor...?" I tilted my head, confused. 'No one really gets visitors here.'
"Come now, mustn't keep them waiting." She held a hand out for me, gesturing me over.
"Ms. Shiemi, am I getting adopted?" I asked as we walked down the familiar hallway, towards one of the doors that was one of the meeting rooms.
I stared up at Ms. Shiemi as she slightly shook her head, lips drawn thin. "Afraid not, (Y/N). But it will happen soon." She turned to smile down at me. "I guarantee it."
Solemnly I nodded my head as we reached the door, glancing at it as Ms. Shiemi placed a hand upon it, opening it.
Walking inside, there was a single man sitting at the table as Ms. Shiemi guided me into the chair across from him.
"You look just like your mother." Was his first words, causing me to bring my gaze upon him in question.
"My mother?" I tilted my head, never knowing or seeing what she looked like. "You knew her?"
The man let out a hum, pushing the glasses upon his face up. "I did. We were fairly close." He glanced at me, locking his gaze with mine.
I felt a smile break out on my face as I felt excitement flow through my body. "What was she like?! I stood up on top of my chair, placing my hands onto the table as I leaned closer. "Tell me Mr. Mole face!"
"M-Mole face?!" The man gasped out in bewilderment.
I nodded my head, bringing a finger up to point at his face. "You have a mole on your face, so your mole face! Did my mother have a mole on her face?"
The man let out an exasperated sigh before nodding his head. "She did." I saw a faint smile overtake his face as the man began to describe my mother as I hung onto every word in fascination.
