Ever since my father had left for work last night, millions of questions had plagued my mind.
Who were those guys?
Who was that man?
Why didn't my ability work on him?
Who is this Mori guy?
I replayed the events in my head again, knowing I've heard that name before, but not sure where. I shook my head as I continued walking down the hall, making my way into the room.
"(Y/N)!"
I brought my gaze up, leaving my train of thought as I was met with Yumi, seeing her greet me from her desk. I gave her a smile, walking to sit in the desk next to her.
"Hey, Yumi." I greeted, setting my bag down.
"Omg, what happened?!" She gasped, glancing to my cheek.
I placed my hand on said cheek, where a bruise lied, thanks to the bastard who punched me yesterday. I let out a sigh, telling her what happened.
"No way..." she trailed off. "You don't think it was the Port Mafia do you?"
I froze at her words, not even considering that. "The Port Mafia... I didn't even think about it." I pondered for a moment, recalling how each wore black suits. "Say, Yumi, do remember the conversation we had a few years ago about the Port Mafia in the news?"
She purses her lips in thought. "You talking about that incident that happened three years ago?"
...
"No way!" I glanced over to Yumi as I bit into my sandwich. "You're not gonna believe this!" She gasped, turning her phone screen to me.
"Suribachi City?" I asked as she nodded her head. "What about it?"
"Well, there have been attacks there lately, supposedly by the previous Port Mafia's boss." She explained, looking back at the phone as she continued reading.
"How do you know all this is true?" I rose a brow, not believing anything.
"Apparently there's an inside source or something that has the details of everything." She shrugged her shoulders. "They even brought to light that the current Mafia leader is some guy named Mori Ōgai."
"You believe anything you read, huh?" I teased, smirking at her gullibility.
"It's true, I swear!" She counter-argued, puffing her cheeks out, causing me to laugh at her defensiveness.
...
So that's where I heard the name... I frowned slightly as I began to connect the dots.
"Oh, yeah." She replied, also remembering the conversation. "What about it?"
I hesitated, not sure if I should tell her this. "Well... they mentioned how they were supposed to meet up with their boss soon." I paused, processing what I was saying. "And someone showed up and mentioned the name Mori."
I turned to look at Yumi as her eyes widened in surprise. "Oh my god..." She trailed off.
"Yeah..." I sighed. "What if they tried to look for me and-"
"That's so badass!" Yumi exclaimed.
"Hah...?" I turned my head to her in bewilderment.
"You beat up a bunch of Mafia men and lived to tell the tale about it!" She exclaimed in excitement. "You could totally be a detective!"
