All of a sudden, I was left alone.
They'd stopped attacking me.
They're trying to leave.
I was scared that they'd do that.
If they escape today, we might never get them together again to end this.
I really hope Damon and Evelyn were able to pull through.
Just then, from around and above me, I felt surges in the atmosphere.
Simultaneously walking in, there was Evelyn with Damon and Marcus right behind her.
I heard them before I actually saw them.
Evelyn's hair was all loose, actually levitating around her as she muttered some words and kept her hands up in the air.
In twos and threes, people all started filing in from the hedge entrance at the far end of the clearing.
This was way more than we agreed upon.
In a short amount of time, there were almost sixty to seventy people here, all looking ready to fight. I even saw Mavis and James line up behind Damon and Marcus.
Evelyn's voice got progressively louder as I caught my breath, looking all around and feeling all my wounds close up.
She then yelled something, and her hands dropped along with her hair. And then, from all around me, in what seemed to be a little dome, all the shadow creatures fell down.
Completely uncloaked.
Evelyn stumbled back and almost fell to the ground, but Damon caught her at once and then handed her over to James and Mavis, who started attending to her.
She was drained. Severely.
But it had worked.
She cast a confinement spell and trapped me in here with them.
So I can finish what I've started.
And even with a bonus, she's made them visible again.
Looking back out at the people that had come, I tried to keep myself focused.
We were supposed to have a couple of warriors here as backup, but this, this was so much. There were so many people here.
Sarah stood up, finally on the ground for the first time since I came. She looked around, giving an especially sour scowl to Evelyn, and then she looked at me.
"So this was your plan?" She smiled at me. But her smile was tight. She was livid.
So was I.
Bending down to grab one of the minions who had landed next to me, I took hold of her neck before she could regain her stance.
I watched on in annoyance as they all turned invisible again. Except for Sarah, that is.
I proceeded to finish the one in my hands off before I threw her decaying body aside and tried to shake off some of that acidic blood off my hand.
Four down.
"There's no plan. This ends here and now."
Sarah scowled.
A waft of fish hit me from behind and on instinct, before I could even register I ducked, turned, shot my hand out and came in contact with that burning sensation that was beginning to feel comforting to me.
That's it.
Sputtering and wheezing, minion 5 became visible, and then I took care of her as well.
Sarah, at this point, looked malicious. All at once, she started floating again, her eyes blazing, and I knew that that fight was going to be extreme and difficult.
Everyone stood still at their positions like they'd been instructed.
Just watching me rip seemingly harmless old wenches to shreds.
I must be such a pretty sight.
I made eye contact with Damon for a brief second. His glowing moonstone around his neck glowing almost as brightly as his lightening blue orbs. He was ready to fight but was holding back. Like I'd told him to. Everyone needed to stand down. And as long as we were in this confinement, it was up to just me anyway.
