I was now standing in a huge, like a really huge hall that at first glance seemed perfectly vacant.
No longer concealed by the wall beside me, I had a good look at what was in here.
It is when you decide to actually take a breather and look further around that you notice a long table with about twenty men sitting around it at the far end of the hall.
All now conveniently staring at me.
Of course, who wouldn't stare at the girl who probably just barged into a meeting room trying to hide so that no one would catch her but ended being seen by everyone and making a fool out of herself.
I could see Marcus among the men sitting there.
And at the head of the table was Damon, obviously, who was sitting there watching me with slightly wide and shocked eyes.
I was now begining to understand the pull that led me here.
Damon was here.
This is your fault, you did this.
We did this honey, we. You want him too you know.
I literally couldn't move, I wanted to flee the scene but I couldn't move. In that moment I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me.
But I had no such luck.
So we all just stayed there staring.
No one uttering a word.
Pretty awkward meeting if you ask me.
No one asked you.
It wasn't up until Damon tried to clear his throat, he spoke slowly to me.
"What are you doing here?"
Good question.
Thing is, I can't answer.
What was I doing here?
I have no idea. How did I even get here?
Flowers, garden, lost my way, yada yada yada... long story short, my wolf sabotaged me.
I could feel her purring and feeling content now that he was close.
Ever since I got to this pack, I could feel her more in my concious, hear her better, I'm sure it has something to do with Damon.
But I still just stood there not really knowing how to phrase it.
Besides, I wouldn't be here if they had locked the damn door.
Why won't anyone just lock their doors today?
If the meeting was that important, they should have locked the door like all the ones I tried before. Had it been so, I would have been well out of this building by now.
So actually, it's his fault I'm here.
But I didn't tell him that.
I could tell he was getting annoyed with my intrusion and lack of speech at this very moment so I decided to just excuse myself.
I was just about to step back into the small entrance way and reach for the knob to make my swift escape when someone shot up from their seat.
He had been sitting right next to Damon opposite Marcus.
He was tall from what I could see and he had dark blonde hair.
He looked at me and caught my eye.
He had light brown eyes.
He was staring at me with some intensity that made me feel, awkward, even more than I already do.
He stood there for a while before he moved his seat back and started approaching me.
Then I became even more nervous than before.
He was approaching me? Why?
I stood frozen to the spot and this guy wouldn't take his eyes off of me. He came to a stop about two feet away from me.
His eyes slowly trailed up and down my frame then back up to my face. He didn't even bother to be subtle about it.
And now that he was up close I could also see his features properly.
He was actually quite cute.
His eyes were actually a dark hazel color and his hair was blonde with dark roots. His sides were slightly cropped and some of the hair in the middle fell on his forehead.
He was in all black, black jeans and a black shirt with dark brown almost black boots.
This is no time to check him out.
Fine.
He had a strong aura around him that made me believe he was an alpha.
His eyes oddly fell on my neck area and back up at my face. His lips curled into a small smile.
Forget cute, he was gorgeous.
Fact people, it is a fact.
He seemed to be in his mid twenties, or maybe late, who knows with wolves. He could even be older, but he looked young.
He took a step closer to me closing off all distance and then we heard a growl from the table.
Most definitely Damon.
But the guy didn't even bother.
He reached out his hand and touched my face. Actually he caressed it. And started trailing his hands down to my neck and my bare shoulders.
Okay now I was beginning to feel very strange. Don't get me wrong, like I totally enjoy random people walk up to me to feel up my face but like dude, people are staring.
He moved his head closer to me and I took a much needed step back, out of his reach and wandering hands, which didn't really work out too well for me because I was already at a wall.
I noticed from the corner of my eye that Damon had gotten up and had started walking over to us.
I sighed in relief.
Thank God.
For once, I don't mind seeing his I'm-gonna-rip-your-head-off-now look since it wasn't directed at me.
Right?
But in that cursed moment, the guy in front off me moved his head even closer and slightly closed his eyes and growled a word that he shouldn't have.
My heart constricted for the second time that day.
That four letter word almost made my heart stop.
And not in a good way.
Damon must have heard it too because in that very moment he stopped, his face turned into one full of anger and his eyes started glowing. I could feel the vibration of his growl in the hall as he came at us.
But I really couldn't think about it right now. I had problems of my own.
What the hell did he mean by that?
It's impossible.
Was he joking or was he insane?
The word kept ringing in my head.
Four letters.
One meaning.
The beginning of my end...
"Mine."
...I didn't know how doomed I was.
