I gradually stirred from my sleep.
I shifted my arms and I turned a bit.

Then I fell right off the bed.

"Ouch." I grumbled, fully awake now from the fall.
I stayed on the ground, which was very comfortable may I add, and held my throbbing head.

How did I land head first anyway?

I sighed and sat up after my limbs started working again.

I looked around a bit until my eyes fixed themselves on the window that was revealing the dark midnight sky with shimmers of moonlight.

It must still be dawn then.

I stood up and looked at the bed I just fell from and the still form of Damon who was lying very close to the edge I just fell from.
I looked at him and I had a small smile on my face as I noticed the mark on his neck.

My mark.
I made that.

Wait, I made that?

I moved closer and regarded the mark with a slight frown on my face.
My mouth is not nearly that big. Surely.

You'd rather it be someone else who marked him?

No, of course not.

I looked at him as he still lay there, very still.
Unmoving.

I had to strain my eyes to see if his chest was moving.
To check if he's still breathing. I remember after I bit him he just stilled beside me. He had blacked out like I did after he marked me.

Although, that was not the position he was in when he stilled, he had been somewhat in the middle of the bed, with me. And just now we had both been at the edge. We had definitely done some moving in our sleep.
I noticed then how his chest rose and fell slightly, with steady breaths.

I moved to sit back down gently at the edge of the bed, looking down on him.
He was beautiful, especially in his sleep where I could stare at him all I wanted without seeming creepy.

The pad of my forefinger gently traced the bite on his shoulder, it had almost completely healed but sure enough, the mark stayed.
It didn't fade. I smiled.

I felt him stir a bit and I retracted my hand immediately. I didn't want to wake him up.
In fact, I just wanted to lie back down and sleep again.
But my startled wake up call had knocked all the sleep out of me. I decided to make my way to my bathroom since I was feeling pressed anyway.
I got up gently, sure not to wake him up, and headed for the door.

I stood in front of the mirror and observed my reflection carefully.

I looked a mess. My hair was standing in all directions, my eyes looked a bit sleep deprived and there was a slight discolouration on the side of my forehead, probably caused when I fell out of bed.

But I noticed something else.
Something different.
I looked sort of happy and relieved.
And after saying it, I felt that way too.

My lips were a bit swollen but they had a tiny smile playing on them, and for once it wasn't forced.
I just felt calm.

And I loved it.

I silently crept downstairs to get myself a cup of tea when I remembered that we had leftovers from last night's dinner. I had eaten earlier, although not as much as I normally would have, and I was hungry again.

I decided to change plans and warm the food Latifah had oh-so-nicely packaged in the fridge.
I took it out of the plastic container and practically dumped all into the pot to heat up. I preferred to heat it up on the stove like she did.
