Madison woke up the next morning and saw Sarah sitting on the couch, a cup of coffee in hand. She mumbled a 'morning' not caring if the girl actually heard her or not and padded her way into the kitchen to pour herself a cup of coffee as well. She groaned at the fact they were out of sugar and milk for that matter and tried not to make a face as she drank the coffee black.
"The guys?" she questioned, walking back into the living room and curling up in one of the chairs.
Sarah tried to hide the smile on her face, one thing Madison would never be was a morning person. "John B is getting dressed and I think JJ said he was grabbing us breakfast."
"I'd kill for a bagel with cream cheese and bacon right now."
Sarah scrunched her nose in disgust, "Cream cheese and bacon?"
"Hey, don't knock it until you try it," John B made himself known as he joined the conversation, stopping to kiss Madison on top of her head and she blindly tried to swat him away causing him to chuckle.
Sarah watched the two siblings with a small smile. She never knew envy could be such a depressing emotion until she saw how the Routledge siblings were with each other. Of course they fought and could say horrible things to one another but at the end of the day they were family and there wasn't just a protectiveness there that she would never receive herself there was also love. Even when they were younger her and Rafe rarely saw eye to eye and she longed to have a brother who actually had her best interests in heart.
JJ walked in a few minutes later with a plastic bag full of food and Madison sang the tune, "Do you get deja vu?"
"Uh, what is Sarah Cameron doing in our living room?" Madison glared at her brother as she walked out of her room not expecting the Princess of Kooks to be sitting on her couch.
John B shot her a look telling her to be nice. "We're hanging out."
She blinked in response, "You're hanging out."
"Yeah."
"No."
"What do you mean 'no'?" John B didn't want to fight in front of Sarah and he should have known Madison was going to have something to say but he figured she'd just stay in her room or leave.
Madison stared him down as she motioned to the girl on the couch, "I mean since when do you hangout with Sarah Cameron in our living room?"
"If you could stop talking about me like I'm not sitting right here, that would be great," Sarah spoke up for the first time since Madison made her presence known but the youngest Routledge refused to even look in her direction.
John B ran a hand down his face with a sigh, "Mads it's not a big deal, actually we are..."
"You're what?" She questioned, not liking one bit where this conversation was headed especially since he paused.
Sarah grabbed his hand, "Say it."
"Dating," John B intertwined their fingers and smiled at the girl next to him.
"Dating?!" Madison nearly choked on the air she was breathing at the revelation. "Sarah Cameron?! You're dating Sarah Cameron?!"
"Is there a reason you keep using my full name?" Sarah asked, her hand still in John B's.
"I feel like my brain is short circuiting," Madison muttered under her breath as she ran a hand through her hair.
John B knew Madison was going to have a problem with it but just like he had to accept her decision to be with JJ she was going to have to accept his. "Why is this such a big deal?"
