Madison groaned as she rolled onto her back and tried to take a deep breath, letting it out slowly. It wasn't often she lost a fight though it was to a grown man so she couldn't be too hard on herself. Limbrey's guy had left at some point and honestly she wasn't sure how long she had been lying on the dock for only that she smelled like the shrimp they had been prepping before he showed up. She pushed herself off the ground and held onto the table for a second as the world spun around her. As soon as she could see straight she made her way over to Heyward who looked like he had just started to come to as well. "Pops, hey, are you okay?"
"I should be asking you that, sweetheart," he took her hand that she had offered him and with a grunt she helped him off the floor and onto the bench. He went to touch the gash on the side of her face but she swatted his hand away.
Heyward was about to argue with her, tell her how he was the adult and had every right to make sure she was okay, but he never got the chance to as the Pogues ran down the dock. The sound of their shoes on the wooden slats resounded in her head almost as loud as their concerned questions, all jumbled together as they tried to figure out what happened. It didn't matter that they all had been fighting or that there was still tension throughout the group because it all got pushed aside when one of them was in trouble.
John B nearly lifted Madison off of the ground as he wrapped his arms around her in an iron tight hug, his stomach turning at the sight of the blood that coated her face and shirt. Pope immediately sat next to his dad and Sarah hurried into the shop to grab the first aid kit. As soon as she returned she started working on the cut on Heyward's head ignoring how many times he tried to tell her he was fine.
Madison patted John B on the back, a silent way of letting him know that she was okay, and hopped up to sit on the table, her feet swinging back and forth. JJ moved to stand in front of her and swallowed hard, doing everything he could to keep his emotions in check. He didn't even know it was possible to feel so many emotions at one time. He loved her, that would always come first, but he was also still so angry with her, hurt by her actions, though a fear also coursed through him that she could have been taken away from him again. He took a deep breath and grabbed a couple pieces of gauze that was in the first aid kit, taking her chin in his hand as gently as possible. He started to carefully wipe the blood off of her face so he could see exactly where it was coming from and figure out how worried he actually had to be.
Kiara looked between the Heyward and Madison, taking in their injuries, and while she hated that either of them got hurt she felt guilty for how she had spoken to her friend earlier. If Limbrey's guy hadn't stopped, if Guffy hadn't driven his boat by the shop when he did, who knows how bad it might have been. She pulled herself up to sit on the railing, wanting to be close, but not feel like she was going to be in the way. She had said what she did in a moment of anger and frustration but quickly realized that if the situation had a different outcome that she might not have gotten the chance to apologize.
