It's official, we passed the four-month mark. The start of junior year, was refreshing, to say the least. For once I felt comfortable in my environment, I actually feel cemented in this place.
My sisters and I had spent the first month after the kanima events collecting ourselves, traveling in the ocean living as our other halves. I love the times like that when we have no worries and can fully enjoy life.
There was a point, at night we were staying somewhere in the north Pacific, and we had just had a long day of swimming with fish and playing games, I was tired but so happy.
I had a moment to myself, I broke the surface of the water floating gently with the waves, I looked up at the sky, its midnight blue hue covered the surface, the giant half-moon shining upon my face. It looked so big and beautiful.
It was at that moment I felt clarity and took a breath of air. I was calm for the first time in years. I was at peace.
But if I've learned one thing peace doesn't last forever in Beacon Hills, we arrived back in the town we called home. That's when I learned of what had happened in our time gone.
Of course, that stupid werewolf had got himself kidnapped by an alpha pack, well Isaac does have 2 working brain cells brain cells.
That was one of two things we had learned that day the other was that the alpha, Derek, had figured out we were mermaids and informed the rest of the group.
That did cause a bit of a panic...
Three weeks ago...
"We leave for one month and you manage to lose all of your beta's?" Matilda said with a slight smirk on her face.
We were standing in Derek's new loft, discussing the events of the last months, after I had asked about the whereabouts of his teenage guard dogs he told us of their current predicament.
He glared at us after Matilda's question, and seeing our amused faces he snapped at us.
"Yeah, if you were here then maybe he wouldn't be gone, but you weren't. You were swimming around having the time of your life." Derek spat looking directly at me and flashing his red eyes.
My smile dropped, I was in shock and so were the others. We immediately shifted, our body language becoming visibly becoming closed off and defensive.
"I don't know what you're talking about, we went off a road trip actually," I said with faux confidence.
He rolled his eyes at our response,
"We figured it out after the fight there's no point in denying it, or is there a point in running away? We can't really call hunters can we, that would be baiting ourselves out as well plus I really don't want a target on my back." Derek said his anger slowly creeping away leaving a calm voice.
