~○Part 2○~
Day After Previous Events
Alex had just finished designing his new business commercials, or at least the script for it. He had revised it to remove any jabs that were included in the original script about other businesses. Even though he had finished, he still needed to run it by the marketing team.
"Done!" Alex declared as he sat back, allowing himself to release a sigh of contentment. There was nothing more fulfilling than checking off one of your tasks for the day.
Alex then heard the ring of his phone in his pocket. As he pulled it out, he saw the name listed was Mr Hostetter and picked up the call.
"Hello, Mr Hostetter?" Alex spoke up.
"Mr Hamilton!" His voice swelled with fake enthusiasm, the type you use when you're overcompensating for not being fond of the person you're speaking to. "I was hoping to get a hold of you."
"Well, lucky it seems you did," Alex quipped with a conversational laugh. "Is this about the strip mall? Have you considered my offer?"
"Yes, I have," Mr Hostetter now cleared his throat and picked up a more formal tone. "So I was particularly considering the price. The cost of the land itself would be-" Mr Hostetter threw out the price
"Okay, but I thought I was looking at-," Alex presupposed his own price. One much lower I should add. "I feel like that would be more than a fair purchase.
"No, no, no. If you want my land, you're gonna have to pay the proper price," Mr Hostetter suddenly sounded defensive.
"Which is the price I stated," Alex retained his stance. "Who would buy at the price you listed? Plus, the price was never that high?"
"Well the price of land changes over time, and the value has increased over time. The price you stated was drastically less. They're not even in the same range," Mr Hostetter refused.
"What do you gain out of the land? You're not even charging rent at the market rate," Alex criticized matter-of-factly.
"Then why do you want it if it's so useless," Mr Hostetter countered with a groan.
"I could use the land. Extend my business," Alex reckoned as he glided his hand through the air like he was imagining the concept. "But hey, if you want to keep the land..where you're getting basically the minimal rent, be my guest."
"I'm not getting minimal rent," Mr Hostetter snapped defiantly.
"I'm sure you're not," Alex made sure the doubt was apparent in his voice. "If I had the land I would use it to actually evolve my fiance and business."
"Well too bad, cause I'm no longer considering selling the land," Mr Hostetter spat contemptuously. "Find a different way to grow your stupid business."
"And find a way to actually make money," Alex responded back, deliberately sounding arrogant.
After hearing a grunt of disdain, the call ended.
