Many years later from All-Valley Tournament
Aaron: I remember that day at the All-Valley Karate Tournament years ago when we were just kids...Alexander won the game. Won Angelica. Won his fame. He won everything. And in every game there's a winner, and there's a loser. I was the loser.
But my loss wasn't just that match, my loss was great. I lost my dojo. Lost my sensei. Lost my reputation...Since then I also lost so much more...family even...sometimes I even feel like I lost myself. I would like to say it isn't how the story ends. Not yet, wait for it.
But for now, there was nothing to wait for
As Aaron's alarm chimed boisterously, he groaned as he rolled over in the cramped bed of his apartment. He didn't want to get up, but the alarm didn't seem like it was stopping anytime soon. He tried to lay there for at least 2 more minutes.
'Dang it..why did I set that thing for a 5 minute ring,' Aaron thought as he lazily reached out to finally silence the alarm. At least he had picked a catchy tune, it was a Bruno Mars song.
Aaron stretched as he reluctantly got out of bed to start his day. He knew he had a full day of work ahead of him at his water company. He sighed, as most days he didn't really have anything to look forward to. It was eat, work, sleep, and then repeat. It was a tedious schedule, and nothing seemed to change.
Aaron walked around his small apartment bedroom as he came to stand at his bed stand which had two framed photos that stood side by side.
Aaron first picked up the first photo, which displayed him and his late wife, Theodosia. In the photo they were at a dance together.
Aaron was seen dipping her as she wore an elegant purple dress which matched with his own purple suit. They were both looking at the camera with gleaming smiles, and Aaron couldn't help but smile as he remembered the moment. Theodosia had insisted they wore purple together.
"You're not the only one that rocks that color," Theodosia had teased.
"Theo, you know if you're wearing purple tonight I can't even compete with you," Aaron had just replied.
His smile became more grim as he knew moments like that could never happen again. He then picked up the second photo which was of him and his late daughter, Theodosia.
It was during a trip to Disney world. Aaron was seen dressed as Tiana's father from Prince and the Frog, while Theodosia was Tiana herself. He chuckled remembering how Theodosia had made them almost spend 2 hours in line just so they could go down space mountain.
Yup, moments like that were gone. Forever.
Aaron quickly got dressed as he rushed into his kitchen to see what he had. His apartment was a mess, and his refrigerator must have been going for the same look cause in the fridge there was cheese on moldy bread, apple juice spilled inside of rice, a half eaten pizza in guacamole, and tons of uneaten leftovers.
It was unfortunate, but with all the disasters that Aaron had faced in his life and the loss of his two favorite women, he really had let himself go. After looking, he decided his best choice was to eat a hopefully nutritious plate of apples that had some sauce that Aaron just tried to pretend was caramel. He took a few bites....it wasn't caramel.
Once ready, Aaron rushed out of his apartment, locking the door behind him. He checked his watch and saw he would be able to make it on time if he paced himself.
Although as he was leaving the apartment building he ended up bumping into a kid who was coming in. Well technically he looked around the age of a teenager.
