I pace through my room constantly with the thoughts on my so called father. It makes sense but at the same time it's almost too hard to believe. It would explain the abilities that I posses but at the same time it doesn't quite make sense. I was raised here, I was born in Greece, my parents put me up for adoption and I was adopted by the Hunters. That's what I've been raised to know. Time to drop a visit to my foster Dad.
I change out of my sweaty gear as I wear a regular t-shirt and some leggings as I slip on some cute boots. It's getting colder outside, not that cold bothered me much but I enjoy being slightly warm. I slip my phone in my back pocket ignoring the texts coming from Leon and Kelsi. I let my hair flow down behind me as I leave my room and head towards the garage and I see the go cart as I grab the keys off the peg in front of the cart. I open the garage door as I back out and close the garage door as I hit the chilly air.
I arrive at my foster dads house as I set the cart into park and I walk towards the door. I notice some of the wood losing its color and I know this will be my project soon, to fix up the house once again. I walk inside my childhood home and towards the backyard knowing that dad will be practicing his archery. I see him through the glass as he pulls the bow back and aims towards a plastic deer through the wood clearing.
He releases the arrow as it pierces the heart as I smile before I walk outside. "Dad." I call as he turns around smiling at me. "Estrella, I thought you would never visit with your crazy schedule." He says setting down his bow and giving me a huge hug. My foster dad is in his 50s, with brown hair which is graying slightly with deep brown eyes. You could look between us and instantly know we are and will never be related. With my silvery eyes and long blonde hair we look nothing alike. "Well I figured I would stop by." I say plopping myself down on the couch. "Glad you did, I've missed my Elly." He says pulling out my nickname from childhood.
"So what's the real reason you came over? As much as I love my daughters company I can tell something's on your mind." He says sitting across from me. "Is it a boy? Cause I can whip out the arrows." He states causing me to smile at his typical father ways. "No boys, like I have time to date when I risk my life every mission. I've been wondering who my parents are." I state as his eyes grow wide and he goes silent.
"I've heard things lately and I want the truth." I add on. "Who said something?" He looks at me closely. "Vampires and a witch who was just nice enough to send me into a memory." I state as he groans. "I knew this would happen, I knew it. You're coming into your true nature for the most part." He says as I look at him in question. "Let's just get straight to the point, is Dracula my father?" I ask him as he downcasts his eyes. "Yes." He states as I get up quickly yelling super loudly. "So you're telling me that I'm the missing daughter of the very first vampire and no one decided to tell me?!" I yell at him causing his anger to flare up.
"I may be only your foster dad but you will treat me with respect before I show you what it means to disrespect me again." He yells back causing my anger to end. "I'm sorry." I whisper. "We couldn't tell you. You were taken from your dad, we saw the opportunity and took it. Well we took you. We couldn't kill a baby and we couldn't let a heir take the vampire throne. So we took you to be raised as a Hunter the one thing vampires fear. We all knew you would posses the abilities that they carry, but we knew you would be mostly human and not a threat to our society." He says causing my hands to clinch into fists.
"So I was taken to be molded into a super Hunter? You used me." I whisper the last part. "We never used you. We trained you into what you are today. At first I volunteered to raise you, I never knew I would love you like the daughter you were and are today." He says as I just groan. "And what of my mom?" I ask. "She's dead, she died giving birth to you." He says as my eyes get glossy. "And how do I posses the abilities of all the other vampires?" I ask as well. "Well we don't know. Dracula has so many tricks up his sleeve that I wouldn't be able to tell you. They are coming for you." He states as I look at him with my face in question.
"You my dear are becoming stronger, faster, and powerful. We figured a few months after your birthday this would happen. You would mature into a vampire without the blood. I don't know why they didn't allow us to teach you the rankings of vampire but you my dear are a purebred. That being said you are part purebred, part human, and the first and last of your kind. You survive on human food unlike the human blood. You could enjoy the taste of blood but you don't need it to survive." Dad tells me as I groan at him.
"So what happens now?" I ask. "You continue doing what you do, and being extra careful. They know your alive and they will be following you waiting for the perfect time to bring you home. You are the next heir." He states as I hold my inner rage at being the one thing I hated the most. "I need some air." I say quietly as dad nods his head before I run out the front door.
