( a/n ) so this is a little different !! this is a prologue of a book i thought of literally like an hour ago. i finished watching "our dating sim" ( a bl i 100% recommend ) and got some inspo from it as well as from the song "when we were us" by ha hyunsang. but no promises that it'll turn into an actual book cause this is literally all i have and i just finished 💔

"y/n?"

y/n snapped out of his thoughts. his grip tightened on the spoon in his hand, looking up at his boyfriend.

"you okay? you've barely touched your dinner.."

y/n looked back down at the meal in front of him. he had no appetite.

"i need to talk to you about something," he said quietly. soobin's brows furrowed as worry sprouted in his chest.

"ah.. i see," the taller set his eating utensils aside and sat up straight, giving his undivided attention to his partner. "go ahead, then."

y/n took a deep breath. he could feel his throat close up and tears begin to surface.

"..i was offered a job with the animation company i told you about."

soobin's face brightened.

"what?? y/n, that's amazing! why do you look so upset?"

"the job would be in australia.. for a year at minimum."

"oh.." soobin's smile disappeared. "well, i suppose just take the time you need to figure out what you want to d-"

"i accepted."

soobin's eyes widened, locked on his boyfriend. his heart plummeted to the depths of his stomach, although he tried to keep a supportive energy up for the other.

"i see.." he paused in thought, "so.. what about us?"

y/n sighed, now burying his face in his hands to hide his tears.

"i don't know. i feel so bad, bin."

soobin quickly left his spot to join the male on the other side of the table. he wrapped his arms around his boyfriend in efforts of comforting him.

"don't feel bad. i couldn't ask you to give up your dream job for me. we'll figure it out, hm?" he assured.

y/n sniffled in his arms, trying to keep his tears at bay. his thoughts continued to overflow his mind in chaos.

"..what if we don't?" he whispered. soobin looked down at him, a little surprised.

"what?"

"what if we don't figure it out?" y/n clarified. "what if we can't do long distance? you're an idol, for fuck's sake. we'll both be working almost 24/7 in completely different countries.."

soobin didn't know how to respond. his relationship had fallen apart in a matter of five minutes.

"so.. you want to break up?" he asked. he almost felt like puking at the words that left his mouth.

"i think it might just be the right thing to do.."

soobin nodded, knowing he was probably right. y/n had always been a very logical person, and soobin found that he could rarely disagree with the points he made.

"..so is this our last night together then?"

more tears trickled down y/n's cheeks.

"i guess so," he muttered out. soobin frowned at how broken his voice sounded. he tightened his embrace around the male and laid his head against him.

"then let's have one more night together as boyfriends. let's not think about anything else."

y/n's heart broke in that moment. his last night with the person he cherished the most. he felt like he was wallowing in soobin's presence. never had he felt so hopeless and discouraged around him.

"i don't know if i can 'not think about anything else' when i'm about to lose you."

"hey," soobin's voice became a bit more stern as he looked at y/n again. "you can't lose me. we're still us, no matter where we are. okay?"

y/n nodded, failing to stop the tiny smile that curved on his lips. he wiped a couple tears away before going back to hugging him.

"okay, bin."

so again, that would be the prologue. i think the actual beginning of the book would start with the reader getting back to sk after a couple years and them reconnecting. then maybe soobin having trouble cause he's afraid of being left again :/ BUT YEAH ANYWAYS feel free to leave ideas since i dont know wtf im doing 💔 but this idea might also just be trash that i'll throw away, we'll see
