Well, that was interesting.
Som couldn't believe what he just heard, and because he visited the town with them, it was only understandable that he returned with them as well. Otherwise, it will look suspicious. They pretended like they didn't see anything, didn't hear anything, and they had a great time strolling the Old-eldill. In truth, he did have fun. For the short while that they spent together, he must admit that he likes the Strigoi brothers. But the sudden alteration in the story was leaving him blindsided and more cautious.
"Hey, Som..." Marko called Som as they walked him to his room.
He turned around, "What?"
"You're probably disappointed with us. Disillusioned. I get it. I understand. We like you. You're a good person. As your first friends here, we beg you. Some things are best not to get involved too much. The Dragon Prince isn't someone you can play with. Kali is dangerous. Stay away from him."
Som watched his wide back turn to drag himself and his brother and walk away. For a moment, Som stood still in front of the door of his room with thoughts running inside his head. But after a deep sigh, those thoughts couldn't be put into words, so he decided to finally rest in his room.
He let his body fall on top of the bed and spread both of his arms above his head. Now he was contemplating whether he should tell Sri about this. He could send him a message but was unsure of how safe that would be. Also, there was this nagging feeling that he was missing something. Something vital that could connect two and two together.
What the fuck did you hide in this story Darren Pike?
But what to do now? His supposed allies didn't want to get involved. On top of that, he was warned to stay away from Kali. Tomorrow was the first day of the class. Som had come to the conclusion that he should wait for a while and see if there would be any movement on Kali's side. Either way, he didn't need to get too close to him. He just needed to keep an open eye...

The first morning.
The first day of the semester.
The start of another adventure.
Som's eyes felt heavy and he couldn't help yawning because of not getting much sleep last night. He was thinking of scenarios on how to approach or at least befriend the Dragon Prince. He knows it won't be easy, given their first meeting wasn't at all grand. But if Marko and Mica weren't willing to help him any further, then he must do everything on his own.
Speaking of the devils, as Som read the map of the academy looking for the study hall, the Strigoi brothers were waiting for him right by the hallway. There was not much of a change on their faces, but maybe because their skin was naturally pale. Although it was difficult to discern if they were nervous because of yesterday or simply they were having a stomachache because it was the first day in class, Som could just look at their eyes and understand that they were as troubled as he was.
"Hey..." he greeted them first. Hey, if they still want him as a friend, he would still hang out with them. Why not?
Marko gave him a dry smile, "Hey..."
"Are you guys waiting for me?"
"Yes..." Mica also smiled. "We want to go to class with you."
Som smiled. This brings back memories of when he first had friends at the orphanage. "Sure, let's go together."
"Did you sleep well last night?"
"Not really."
"Yeah, us too."
