Arriving at Castle Vukanović at Svanhild Falls, Ilarion and Malee finally met with Som who looked every bit of shock as they were. However, upon seeing Som beside the Dragon Prince Kali, Ilarion fought the urge to blurt out the words and what he knew, not wanting to spoil the evening of their arrival.

Kali had his whole focus on Ilarion as well, causing the Erinyes to feel discomfited. He could tell that the Draconian noble did not trust him, if Ilarion could only express his personal preference, he too could not trust the prince after knowing that he was indeed the Dragon God Naga. It was not like he didn't know, he created the story, and of course, he knew. But since discovering that Som must be the phoenix god, he began to doubt even his own existence, believing that he must have been part of this world since, like Som, his memories were altered. He was born in a different universe or perhaps an alternate one that the phoenix god created himself. Who knew? However, there was one thing he was certain of—and that was the fact that this world had begun to unfold its own story, its own secrets, far beyond the words that he wrote. And he has no control over it, and he doubts if Som has to.

Unlike him though, Som has the power to redo everything...

"Hi," said Mica, for some unknown reason, he was excited to meet Ilarion and Malee. His brother also waved back at the two.

"Hello..." Malee timidly answered and elbowed Ilarion to do the same, but the other Erinyes were not in the mood. He was wondering how he could get Som alone.

It was at this point, that Som met his eyes and they both did their best to communicate without arousing others' suspicions.

"I need to speak with you. Alone."

The moment he declared this, Som quickly glanced at Kali reluctantly and found the Dragon Prince staring back intensely. Ah, shit! He knew?! Som did his best to smile as naturally as possible and intertwined his hand with his. Kali looked at their hands and just like that, he could not do anything but sigh. If there was one thing that Som has an advantage of, it was the fact that Kali would do anything for him. Seeing them acting lovey-dovey, even Ilarion must admit that they looked good together. Who would've thought that his avid reader and the protagonist he created would end up as a pair? The real question though—were they supposed to be a pair?

Ilarion never gave the original version an ending and he ended it with Som pushing Kali to the mount of the Serpent's Peak. After he debuted as Darren Pike, he had completely erased whatever he was thinking or if he had any thoughts at all about what came next, he could no longer remember. It vanished in an instant he started taking over this role.

"Did you..."

Som quickly averted his gaze and even cleared his throat before glaring back at Ilarion. "Did I what?"

"Nevermind...I don't think I even want to know. Is there a way you can get away from him?"

"What do you mean by getting away from him?"

"As in far enough so we could talk?"

Som frowned and heard Marko sharing the ridiculous story of his and his brother's adventure inside Castle Vukanović to Malee and Kali. The Draconian prince had nothing to say but the deepening scowl that marred his handsome face was more than enough to express his distaste. While Malee was kind enough to react and smiled politely that only encouraged the brothers to talk more much to everyone's irritation.

This was all happening while Ilarion and Som continued to communicate via the spiritual feed.

"I am serious, we really need to talk!"

"Have you figured out if we can stop the war?"

"Ah duh, look around you. The war is happening whether we like it or not. It's inevitable. In fact, I am beginning to suspect, it should happen."
