"What the fuck is this?" Saanvi said in disbelief, and they could see genuine fear in her eyes. She directed her glare at Mica, "Why—why are you following Kali?!"
"They didn't," Som answered her, and she turned her eyes on him. "I did."
She exclaimed, "This is a magical device belonging to the Strigoi clan!"
"Well, I asked for their help."
Saanvi's face was even more distorted as she stared at Som in disbelief, "Are you guys fucking crazy?! Prince Kali? Seriously?"
"You heard the recordings already," Mica said impatiently, "You're one of us."
"Fuck you!"
"Mica stop!" Som tried to calm Saanvi down as she became hostile. It looks like she wanted to bite Mica's head off. "You don't need to go down with us. We just need you to translate the conversation, that's all."
Saanvi paced back and forth in the room as though she had been given the biggest task in her entire life. However, instead of success, what she was about to get was a headache. Som could tell that Saanvi wanted to kill all three of them, but she could no longer unheard what she had just heard. To his bewilderment, she decided to liaise despite her better judgment.
"They are talking about...a package." Saanvi started revealing the details of the conversation.
Som was both puzzled and excited about this, "A package?"
"Yes. Kali was asking if the package was safe and being treated fairly."
He exchanged looks with Marko and Mica, whose faces were also filled with questions. "Did they drop any names?"
Saanvi shook her head. "No names. It seems they were careful about it even when they were speaking in ancient tongues. But a place was mentioned."
"What place?"
Before Saanvi could continue, she stepped closer and asked Som directly, "Som, the voice of the person talking to Kali is very familiar to me. Can you describe to me what that person looks like?"
Som was astonished to hear this and, at the same time, concerned. He wondered if there would be another change should Saanvi get involved. Nevertheless, Mica answered for him. "It was the Shaman Niran," he told her.
"Fuck, I knew it!"
"What? What?" Marko couldn't follow and also started panicking.
"So, Kali is really working with the Shaman of the Erinyes?" Mica also asked. "That doesn't make any sense..."
"What doesn't make any sense?" Som was now confused since this was different from the original novel. Niran wasn't supposed to be involved. Same with Darren Pike!
Saanvi replied, "Niran and Kyro are good friends."
Ah, since when? Som wanted to wince, but he continued to pretend, ingraining himself into the moment. Which was odd because the more he did this, the more real it became. "Does this mean he's betraying his friend?" He asked again.
Saanvi's face paled, "What are you guys talking about? Is there more to this? Tell me exactly what is this all about?"
"Well, what do you think it is about?" Mica returned her question with another one but in a sarcastic tone.
"Kali was known to have businesses with other the other race on behalf of his brother, and I thought you guys accidentally messed with one of his—"
"No. It's more than that," Som was forced to at least give her a bit of the truth. Honestly, he was willing to tell her more if she wanted to hear more.
