Summary (3rd Person POV): Enid has been working up the courage to tell Wednesday how she feels about her for weeks now. Everyday is 'the day' according to Enid, then she inevitably chickens out. That is until today...
-
"Today's the day, Yoko! I can feel it!" Enid declares rather ceremoniously, fist raised in the air.
"Mmhmm, you said that yesterday." Yoko reminds the blonde, slurping obnoxiously from her blood bag.
"I'm serious, Yolks! I'm gonna do it today. I'm determined."
"I'm getting a serious case of déjà vu right now."
"Ugh, I hate you." Enid's forehead smacks flat onto the courtyard table, creating a satisfying thunk.
"Okay, okay." Yoko sighs, leaning over the table and lifting Enid's head so her hand can be a softer surface to face-plant on. "I'm sorry, Pup. I believe in you but, you have to admit this is getting repetitive."
"I know." Enid's reply is muffled against Yoko's hand. Thankfully the vampire's enhanced senses allow her to hear the wolf clearly. "I just...I need to tell her. I can't keep it in any longer."
"Hey, I get it. Remember how I was before I grew the balls to ask Divina out?" Enid perks up again, a devilish grin gracing her lips.
"You were literal torture!"
"I know!" Yoko chuckles. "That's why I listen to you gush about Wed- I mean," Yoko raises her hands to sign quotation marks as she continues, "'The Raven.'" She smiles fondly as Enid's cheeks flush. "I appreciate you, Wolfie. I'll be ready with celebratory snacks or heartbreak snacks whenever you're ready."
"Thanks, Yoko." Enid takes Yoko's hand and gives it a tight squeeze just as a shadow falls over them.
"Am I interrupting something?" Wednesday says, startling both girls. Though her monotonous speech was very much present, there was the slightest hint of irritation lacing her words.
"Huh, oh, Wednesday! Hey! No, no we were just uh...sharing nail-polish techniques!" Enid sputters, dropping Yoko's hand like it were a host to every contagious disease possible.
Yoko cradles her now throbbing hand from the harsh collision with the coarse wood of the table. "Yeah, Enid's thinking of trying out your black polish." She says with a barely contained smirk.
Enid's eyes practically bulge out of their sockets at the retort as she feels Wednesday take the seat next to her. "Oh? I must admit I did not see that coming." Wednesday says, without the disgust Enid had been expecting. "You of course can borrow my polish, just do not get any of your colourful alternatives mixed into the bottle."
"R-really? Thanks, Weds! I'll be extra careful, scouts honour!" Enid says, raising her hand.
There's a moment of silent stares before Wednesday says, "You were never a scout, Enid."
"Oh, yeah, ha ha, silly me." Enid avoids eye contact for the rest of lunch break, using her burrito as a shield.
-
"Thing? Where are you?" Enid calls, expecting the hand to come scuttling toward her.
Instead, a rather agitated Wednesday appears from behind. "Thing is out on an excursion for me."
"Ah! Jeez Wednesday, you really need a bell." Enid says with a skip to her heart. "That sucks, I was hoping he'd help with my nails. I've never done dark polish before let alone pure black! I have no idea how many coats to do." Enid begins to pace as her panic rises.
