"HEY, DAD," WERE THE first words that left Kiara's lips as the group walked in the Wreck.
Kaden had spent the day hanging out with the pogues. The group finally decided to call it a night and go have dinner.
"Hey," Mike greeted as she approached him, "how'd we do?"
"Didn't turn it over once," Mike responded, a grim look on his face. Kiara sighed, "it's probably just bad luck because of the storm."
The two shared a hug as Mike said, "yeah, I'll be sure to tell the Banks that."
"Guess now is not the best time to ask for free food for me and my friends?" Kiara asked, pulling away from the hug with an innocent smile on her face.
Mike sighed and the two turned to look at JJ, Pope and John B who were staring at other people's food. Kaden, being the one to sit on the top of the table with a cigarette dangling from his lips and pretending like he wasn't listening in to their conversation.
"Look at them," Kiara's father spoke, "they're greedy pelicans. I told you to stop hanging around them."
"Well, everybody at the kook academy hates me, dad."
"Cause you never gave them a chance," Mike argued earning a sigh from her, "I did give them a chance. They got all stuck up on me. They care more about shoes than surfing. What am I supposed to do with that?" She turned her head towards the group, "these are my friends."
As Mike looked at them as well, the three who were standing waved while Kaden raised his brows at Mike as a sign of acknowledgement. The older man took a deep breath, glancing back at Kiara, "look—" he sighed, "well, I— I got— I gotta throw it out. Might as well take it."
Kiara smiled before wrapping her arms around her father, "thank you!"
"You're welcome," Mike pulled away, "I'll bring it out."
"Sit down," Kiara said to the three boys who were standing and they instantly sighed in relief as they head towards the same table upon which Kaden was sitting on and sat down on the chairs around. "On a chair," Kiara added, looking pointedly at Kaden who rolled his eyes before plopping down on one. "Happy?"
"Very much so," her reply was as sarcastic as his question while Mike brought out their food, placing it on the table in front. The five immediately dug in, completely starved from not having eaten a thing all day.
Then Kiara began dancing and asked John B to join her by wiggling her fingers. The latter stood up and the two started dancing while the others watched.
Kaden's eyes drifted to Pope who was watching the two dance with clear jealousy in his eyes. When Pope caught him staring, he immediately flickered his eyes back to his food.
Kaden sighed and took a sip of his drink, clearly aware of his friend's crush on the other. He then stood up and walked towards where Mike was standing. The man raised his brows at him, "yes?"
"Just trying to place an order."
"I can't give any more free—" he was cut off when Kaden slammed a couple of bills on the counter in front of him. That shut him up as he straightened himself, "what do you want?"
"Burger, chips, the usual," he shrugged before adding, "takeaway." Mike glanced down at the money in front of him, "for Blake, I'm assuming. You're overpaying."
"I'm paying for those," he jerked a finger behind him, "and for what I'm about to buy now."
"Those are free. Kiara —"
"— can do what she wants," Kaden interrupted, "she's nice that way but I don't need anyone to pity us and offer us free food. I don't like to owe people. Take it." Upon remembering that Wheezie would most likely be there as well, he added, "make that two."
"Alright," Mike sighed before walking away. Minutes later, he came back holding a bags, "there. Tell Blake I said hi."
"Will do," Kaden grabbed the bags from him before leaving the Wreck, not bothering to say goodbye to his friends who looked like they were enjoying themselves.

KADEN WALKED IN HIS house and like he expected, both Blake and Wheezie were sprawled on the couch, playing video games.
"Hey, K." Wheezie greeted without taking her eyes off the screen, "please tell me you brought dinner. I'm starving."
"Aren't you served dinner in your fancy home?"
"My dad took Rose out for dinner, they told Sarah to make me some food but she had a party to go to and she knew I was gonna come here so..." she trailed off.
"I didn't know I was your babysitter," rolling his eyes, Kaden walked towards them and dropped the bags on the table. "Have at it."
"Thank you," Wheezie murmured as she started eating her food along with Blake. Kaden sat on the couch across them, narrowing his eyes at the two, "I hope you commit any sins in my absence."
Wheezie choked while Blake rolled his eyes, casually plopping a fry in his mouth. "The kind of sins you commit?"
"Pray, tell—" he rose an amused brow at his brother, "what kind of sins do I commit?"
"I can't talk about those disgusting things," Blake leaned back, "I'm eating, as you can see."
"And I'm present," Wheezie added, "as you can see."
"And as you know," Kaden mocked the two, "I don't give a shit. The last thing I want right now is to have a pregnant teenager—"
"Oh for fuck's sake, shut up K—" Blake was cut off when someone knocked on the front door. He raised his brows at him, swallowing his curse, "you expecting someone?"
"No," Kaden stood up and approached the door. He opened it, his eyes furrowing at the sight of the other Cameron.
"To what do I owe the displeasure?" The question left his lips earning a frown from Sarah who just stood there, wearing a top and a pair of shorts, her hair was disheveled, and she looked like a mess. His lips curled up as he took in her appearance, "you look like shit."
"I—"
"— Sarah?" Wheezie peeked at her from behind them, surprised upon seeing her there, "you came? But aren't you supposed to be at the party?"
Instead of replying, she looked at Kaden who pursed his lips, "you're way too early."
"I know," she just said instead, "can I come in?" He just stepped aside and she didn't waste a second before she got inside, Kaden making sure to close the door behind her.
Sarah approached the couch and sat down beside Wheezie who took a bite of her burger. She tilted her head to the side at that, then looked at Blake who was eating the same thing. She lifted her head to look at Kaden who was standing and staring at her with questions in his eyes so she spoke, "I ditched the party. I hope you don't have a problem with me being here. There's—" she cleared her throat, "there's nobody at home."
"I suppose you can stay," Kaden muttered, pointing his fingers at the two kids, "and babysit them. I'm done for the night. I'm going outside, for some fresh air."
"Here I was hoping we'd all sit and watch a movie together." Wheezie said, laughing when Kaden rolled his eyes and walked out of the door, closing it behind.
